ONCE UPON THE LIFE OF THE WISE KING
Volume 2
The Fall of The Royal Family
Chapter 38 - The Trap
Despite his threat of running away, Prince Luciel remained in his room locked up. He firmly believed that his power was unrivaled because that was what he was told when he was younger. He grew up always receiving praises from his family. They told him how his majika was the most powerful one in history and as the heir he will inherit the throne. When he became King he can protect his people with his majika.
"And now they are telling me I can't rely on my majika? Nonsense!" Prince Luciel slumped on his bed with his limbs spread out. Rolling on his stomach, he started grumbling. "General Calver and General Huns cam't even defeat me." He rolled on his back again. "I can just blast the enemies away with wind, burn them with fire, drown them with water, or bury them with soil. I can even summon blizzard and storm if they want."
Bam!
The door was blasted open by the Second Prince. "I really admire your majika, brother," he spoke as he stepped inside.
Prince Luciel was startled when his brother destroyed his door just to get inside. Sitting up, he exclaimed, "What are you doing!?"
"Well, your majika is unmatched. The Generals can't even defeat you, right?" Primce Alphonse said almost mockingly. "But when it comes to swordsmanship brother Colin is the best. You can't scratch him much less surpass him in sword fighting."
The Third Prince frowned and said, "Why are you here?"
"Father and mother want to see you?"
Looking at the door that was destroyed, Prince Luciel thought there was more to it than just wanting to see him. "Why?"
"To talk."
"We already talked. What is there to talk more?" He became suspicious.
Meanwhile, at the southern border, General Huns was getting more worried each passing day. He assigned a group of men to try to request the pressence of the Jin Kingdom to clarify the unusual silence of the Jin Kingdom. But after a few days, the men he sent had yet to return.
Unknown to General Huns, the group of men he sent to the Jin Kingdom was held by Azazel.
Before General Huns's men arrived, Azazel received the information from his subordinates. Those subordinates were once loyal to the King of the Jin Kingdom, but recently they showed dissatisfaction towards the Luciel Kingdom. It all started when they saw the brightest light a few years back. They firmly believed that the Luciel Kingdom was selfish, solely owning the majika. When they learned of their King's new plan to acquire the majika, they were joyous, not knowing that their King was already possessed by someone else.
When General Huns' men arrived at the Jin Kingdom, they were surprises to see the King waiting for them.
"Welcome to the Jin Kingdom," the King greeted with open arms.
The men were taken aback as they did not anticipated that they will be welcomed. They shared a look with each other.
"Come, come. You all must be tired after the long journey. Let us go inside, take some rest, and eat lunch."
The men followed the King back to the palace where they were assigned one room each to rest. Afterwards, they were called down for lunch. During lunch, they were also shocked to find their selves sitting in the dining hall along with the King. Back at the Luciel Kingdom, they never dined in with the Royal family.
"So, what is the reason why you visited my small Jin Kingdom?" the King asked.
"Your Majesty," one of General Huns' men spoke, "We received information that the Jin Kingdom has closed itself and refuses to let anyone in or out of the Kingdom. We sent a letter to His Majesty, but it looks like it never reached Your Majesty. So now we are here to personally asked His Majesty regarding the matter."
The King laughed for a moment. "About the letter. Indeed I never received one. There has been internal conflict that I need to resolve first, that is why. Don't worry, the conflict was already resolved."
After lunch, the King lead them around the palace to show them how he managed his Kingdom and to prove that there was no internal conflict now. Then, they came to a spacious room.
The men felt something amiss upon arriving in the room. All of a sudden, they could not move their feet. It was as though their feet were stuck on the floor with glue. "Your Majesty, what is the meaning of this?"
The King, who had his back turned on them, slowly faced them and grinned. "I just want to recruit you to the anti-royalist faction," he said.
"What!?"
The men tried to pull their feet fruitlessly. They pulled out their swords, prepared to fight but it got pulled by some force as it flew up and stuck on the ceiling with its sharp point facing each men. At this, their eyes widened in fear.
"Try to resist and the sword will fall on your head," Azazel warned them. "Don't make this hard on your self. Just accept my offer, and you will live," he said.
"What kind of offer?"
Tilting his head to the man who asked, Azazel smiled and said, "That is a good question. What I offer you is to become my mine and submit to only me."
Three of the men immediately refused, saying, "No way! We will only submit to our King!"
Slashed!
Blood splattered on them. The men were rendered speechless upon witnessing their comrades getting killed when the swords fell on them.
"You were saying something?" Azazel asked mockingly.
One man bravely tried to activate the communication on his helmet by raising his hand to touch the side of his helmet. But all of a sudden, he could not feel his right arm. It turned out that the sword fell on him but miss his head instead. Terrified, he turned his head to Azazel.
"What are trying to do?"
The man could not speak out of fear.
