Chapter 6: The Return of the Shadow

429 Words
The peaceful days didn't last long. The name Tino Yinvile intruded into their lives again. Tino somehow got wind of Abed's whereabouts and actually tracked him down to this city. Instead of going directly to Abed, she first found Lissie. At an outdoor café, Tino sat across from Lissie. With a delicate makeup, her tone was filled with undisguised hostility. "Lissie, do you really think Abed will be sincere to you? He's just pretending to be nice to you here because he owed you in the previous life. Once his novelty wears off, he'll eventually come back to me." Lissie's fingers tightened around the coffee cup. The image of Tino from the previous life flashed through her mind, making her feel nauseous. But this time, instead of panicking or getting angry as before, she just looked at Tino indifferently. "Who he loves and who he chooses is his business, none of your concern. Similarly, the matter between him and me has nothing to do with you." Tino didn't expect Lissie to react like this. She was momentarily at a loss for words, then sneered. "You've become quite sharp - tongued. But don't forget how you died in the previous life. A man like Abed is cold - blooded and selfish by nature. If he could torture you once, he could do it again." These words were like a thorn, piercing precisely into the most sensitive part of Lissie. Her face instantly paled a few shades, and her hand holding the cup trembled slightly. Just then, a deep voice interjected. "Tino, it seems I wasn't clear enough before." Abed had appeared beside them at some point. His face was terrifyingly gloomy, and his eyes were fixed on Tino like ice. "Between you and me, it was completely over the moment we were reborn. If you dare to harass Lissie again, don't blame me for being ruthless." His aura was so powerful that Tino stiffened under his gaze. She could no longer maintain her composure. She stood up in a fluster. "Abed, you'll regret this!" With that, she left in a hurry. After Tino left, Abed immediately rushed to Lissie's side, crouched down, and gently took her cold hand. "Don't be afraid. I won't let her hurt you again." Lissie looked up and saw the undisguised worry in his eyes. The nerve that had been stung by Tino in her heart didn't seem to hurt as much. She nodded slightly and said softly, "I'm okay." At that moment, she clearly realized that the Abed in front of her was truly different.
