Abed was consumed by anxiety as he couldn't find Lissie. He leveraged all his connections and resources, going to great lengths to inquire about her whereabouts everywhere.
He visited the places Lissie had once been to and questioned everyone who knew her, yet the answer was always the same—no one had a clue where Lissie had gone.
As days turned into weeks, Abed's search yielded no progress at all. Still, he refused to give up, firmly convinced that he would surely find Lissie.
He began to reflect on his actions in his past life and realized just how terribly wrong he had been. He was no longer that cold - hearted man who only resorted to violence to solve problems. He learned to be patient, to wait, and to care for someone.
He entrusted most of the company's affairs to his deputy and devoted himself entirely to the task of finding Lissie. He traveled to nearly every corner of the world; at the mere hint of any news about Lissie, he would rush there without hesitation.
During this process, Tino Yinvile came to see him multiple times, trying to salvage their relationship. But Abed was indifferent towards her, not even bothering to exchange a word. His heart held only Lissie.
Tino Yinvile couldn't fathom why Abed had suddenly changed like this. She was unwilling to accept it but felt helpless.
Meanwhile, Lissie was living a peaceful life abroad. She had returned to school, studying the major she loved. She made new friends and started a new chapter of her life.
She strived to keep Abed and the past pains out of her mind. However, in the dead of night, the memories of her past life would surge in like a tide, leaving her tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep.
Occasionally, she would catch news about Abed and knew that he was doing well now, with his career becoming increasingly successful. There was no trace of jealousy in her heart, only a faint sense of estrangement.
She thought she could live such a peaceful life indefinitely. But fate seemed to delight in playing tricks.
One day, as Lissie was reading in the school library, a familiar figure entered her line of sight.
It was Abed.
Lissie's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively wanted to hide. But Abed had already spotted her. A flash of surprise and excitement flickered in his eyes as he quickly walked towards her.
“Lissie, I've finally found you.” Abed's voice trembled slightly, his eyes brimming with the joy of regaining something precious that had been lost.
Lissie's body tensed up. She dared not meet Abed's gaze, keeping her head down as she spoke coldly, “What do you want from me? We have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
“No, Lissie, we do have a connection.” Abed said urgently, “I wronged you in my past life. In this life, I want to make amends and love you properly.”
Lissie looked up at Abed, her eyes filled with mockery, “Make amends? Do you think you can truly make up for it? Can you endure the pain I suffered in my past life for me?”
Abed's face paled. He knew what Lissie said was the truth. He couldn't change the past, but he could seize the present.
“Lissie, I know you won't believe a word I say right now.” Abed's voice was low and sincere, “But I promise you, in this life, I will never hurt you again. I will love you and cherish you with my entire life, making you the happiest woman in the world.”
As Lissie looked into the sincerity in Abed's eyes, a trace of wavering appeared in her heart. But the pain of her past life was too deep - seated, making it hard for her to trust easily.
“Go away. I don't want to see you again.” Lissie turned her head, avoiding his gaze.
Abed didn't leave. He just stood there quietly, gazing at Lissie's back. He knew that Lissie couldn't forgive him at the moment, but he was patient. He would wait until Lissie was willing to accept him.
