School days for Helen

305 Words
Helen is now six. She has been promised by Henry that she will join Olivia and the other children in the next school year. Helen is elated and she is enrolled into same school with Olivia, but Olivia is few classes above Helen, since she is older than her and that Helen is just starting out. Helen even at her first day at school was very smart. She listens to teachers while they teach and was very obedient. Helen is now free to attend school but something was lacking; happiness. Helen was never happy. She will return home from school and immediately, Anna will ask her to go hawk the fruits which she couldn't sell the following day. Anna's action towards Helen was to tell Henry that he is wasting money on Helen. Helen finds it difficult to concentrate with her assignments and test at school due to lots of work she does after school daily. Whenever she wants to read her books, she always gets distracted by either Anna or Olivia. Olivia is never happy with his father's decision of sending Helen to school because she scared, knowing Helen is brilliant and can beat her if they are to be in same class. Henry suspects Anna's action towards Helen was too bad and tries to caution her but fails, because she could not stand listening to what Henry has to say about Helen. Anna's hatred for Helen kept growing to the extent she locks the doors and allows Helen sleep outside one night when Henry travelled. Helen cried and cried but Anna refuses to open the door for her. Helen complains of headache, Anna could not get her drugs. All she does is to ask her not to hawk fruits that day, even at that she is also forced to do the house chores.
