Chapter VI:

1438 Words
Carl held the long sword in his hand. Drops of blood dripped down from the tip of the sword. The carriage was still galloping forward. Ferrin, who was driving the carriage, was already wide-eyed. She had seen a lot of dark sides. But she had never seen such a straightforward and fierce killing. She knew the fragility of human life. But she didn’t expect that a man would fall so quickly in front of her. The man was literally just alive but was extremely arrogant and clamoring to take their lives In less than three seconds, he was a corpse. There was even some blood spatters in the air. A blob of red blood was added to Ferrin’s already dirty face. The pungent smell of blood raged in her nostrils. In that short period of time, she even lost her ability to think. Just before entering Blood Wolf City, Carl recovered quite a bit though, but still looked very weak. And it was this person who is dominating all of these, this man, who looked like he was just in his twenties… She just drove the carriage subconsciously. The squeaking sound of the carriage on the potholed road seemed to be the only sound at that moment. Ferrin’s pupils suddenly shrank. She looked up at Carl’s profile, she lowered her head again quickly. She saw Carl’s blood-stained right hand behind his back. ... Noticing Ferrin’s gaze, Carl constrainedly clenched his hand. As a person from the modern civilized society, although he has experienced the life-and-death judgment of the Church of Light, and seen many deaths in his previous life, it was his first killing. He had no retreat, no choice. The only things he could now rely on were the identity of Yorick’s prince, the b****y shock, and enough royal arrogance. He must solve it in a short time. As an engineer, he had enough rational analysis ability and knew what the result of entanglement with these people would be. Just like those workers who were angry and couldn’t get their pay, they wouldn’t care who you are. ... On the periphery of Blood Wolf City, the people who surrounded them just now, were now falling into silence one by one. Fear flashed in their eyes. As if at that moment, the killing army of Yorick Kingdom entered Blood Wolf City again. Actually, it was just a carriage. There were only two people on there. And one of them was a thin lady. But it was all so fast that no one could react. It was all over. When they resumed their sense, the carriage had entered Blood Wolf City stately. “Damn, why should we be afraid of him? There are so many of us!” A guy with a shovel in his hand was very annoyed after the fear dissipated. “Shawn is dead!” Someone couldn’t help but say. “He’s the prince of Yorick Kingdom!” Someone else added. “Let’s see what he will do in Blood Wolf City first.” “If he still thinks himself a prince like in Pompeii, waiting to gain our loyalty and service,” “Then he should die soon.” The man with the shovel snorted coldly and said. No one would now admit that they were frightened. They were trying to save face. ... If Carl directly asked for the allegiance of these criminal outcasts, the scene described by the man with the shovel might indeed reoccur. Blood Wolf City hadn’t actually been ruled for too long. The city at the western border of the kingdom was already a pile of ruins. The governors of the kingdom were not willing to come here. Even the vicious criminals shake their heads and leave. Only some refugees who have nowhere to go remain. With the passage of time, it had become a land breeding evils with the most despicable human natures. ... Carl had stopped the carriage at this point. It stopped in the heart of Blood Wolf City. He lay on the carriage and vomited frantically. The already weak body now looked even paler. The physiological reaction after killing someone was forcibly restrained, and now it was finally breaking out. Ferrin was taken aback. She quickly supported Carl. “Prince Carl, are you all right?” Ferrin asked nervously. She didn’t want Carl to die just as they had arrived in Blood Wolf City. “Don’t call me prince.” “What’s the use of the prince?” Carl stopped his urge to vomit, and was reluctantly half-lying on the carriage with Ferrin’s help. Ferrin hesitated, and finally kept her mouth shut. “You don’t have to be so cautious.” “The identity of prince, is just to survive for the time being.” “We are the same.” Carl said seriously. Ferrin shuddered. A witch and a prince? An unprecedented emotion stirred in her heart. Ferrin pursed her lips, and emphasized: “You are a prince.” Carl looked at her. He knew what was on her mind. In this world, the witch, is synonymous with filth. A prince, should be superior. Just like when he just entered Blood Wolf City. With natural arrogance. In Ferrin’s cognition, this was a natural gap, a gap that could never be closed. Carl’s words directly impacted her fundamental worldviews that had been formed since her birth. “The prince and the witch are both flesh and blood. If the prince is hurt, he would also die. Death will not let me live for longer because I am a prince.” Carl said. ... This is called the center, but actually people rarely come here. They prefer to congregate in more peripheral places. This way it’s easier to go out and get food. Those who remain in the ruins are some old, weak, sick and disabled. And even so, there are very few. The location of this place was the place where the City Lord’s Mansion used to be in Blood Wolf City. However, this City Lord’s Mansion was nothing but a pile of rubble. Even the gates were now gone. “This will be where I live from now on.” Carl stood on the carriage and pointed to the ruins. This kind of place… living here? “Just say what you want to say.” Carl saw her move and laughed. “His Royal Highness, are you sure you are going to live here?” “It’s just a pile of ruins.” Ferrin emboldened herself to speak seriously. This is supposed to be where witches should live. She often slept in deserted ruins. Occasionally, she met other witches like her. A prince, should be in a palace. “Every city is built by its people.” Carl was full of confidence. “But you’re alone.” Ferrin said. “Aren’t you?” Carl looked at her with a smile on his face. Ferrin’s head was stunned, and there was a look of disbelief in her eyes. At that moment, she didn’t know how to describe the current situation. His Royal Highness Prince Carl, would allow her to do things with him? And, see her as part of his team? This was incredible. “I’m... A witch...” Ferrin muttered. “Wizards, according to my understanding, are just people who control some alien energies in this world.” “It’s just that you’re  female, but regardless of whether you’re male or female, you’re part of the human race.” “Since wizards can exist, why can’t witches?” Carl shook his head and laughed. But Ferrin fell into silence after hearing that. There was a hint of yearning in her eyes. “Someone in history said the same words as your.” “The great Emperor Kant said the same thing when he had just founded the Kant Empire.” “But after his great mission was achieved, the witches became the outcasts.” “They blamed all the crimes of war on witches.” Ferrin was talking about much older times: The rise of the great Kant Empire. Carl also had some impressions in his mind, but not many. He was stunned after hearing that. “You can choose to believe me, Her Excellency, Ferrin, the great witch.” “In my opinion, there is no difference between you and me, witch and prince.” “Witches are just a type of normal human being, women who have mastered supernatural abilities.” “You don’t have to feel inferior every time you see someone.” “You can be my chief wizard too!”
