Chapter 2

Cassandra...

After last nights episode between me and Damon I woke up naked next to him in his bed with the sheets tangled around us, if it was anyone else it would be awkward but it was Damon and this had happened too many times to remember so instead I stood up and walked to the shower in his bathroom naked.

I needed a shower to rinse myself of the smell of s*x, it wasn’t like I needed Stefan to hate me anymore than he already does, and I don’t know why he hates me but he does.

“Slater called last night” Rose spoke as I walked into the parlour with a blood bag. “What did he want?” I questioned just as Damon walked down the stairs. “He said that the curse can be destroyed if you could get the moonstone and then a witch would be able to figure the rest out” I raised my eyebrows looking over at Damon who nodded his head just as Stefan joined us. “The moonstone?” He questioned making me roll my eyes he should know what the moonstone is.

So because the moonstone was needed Damon, myself and Stefan went to the tomb where Katherine was nicely locked in while Rosebud stayed at the house hidden from the sun. “Let’s do it” Stefan mumbled as he and Damon moved the door that was covering the entrance of the tomb revealing a dedicated Katherine. Damon and Stefan tried to get her to give them the moonstone but of course she tried to get them to get a witch to let her out because she was hungry and bored. She gave them a deal that if they get her out of there she’s hand over the moonstone and disappear from Mystic Falls forever, but of course we didn’t believe a word she said.

So after visiting the vampire doppelgänger we went to visit the human doppelgänger who wasn’t too happy that we went to visit her. “You don’t believe her do you?” Elena questioned looking at the three of us. “Of course not. We just want the moonstone” I spoke up as we stood in the kitchen against the island in the middle Damon playing with some fruit in his hands. “According to Roses friend there’s a way to destroy the spell that Klaus wants to break” Stefan explained to her. “No spell, no doppelgänger sacrifice, ergo you live” Damon told her. “How do you destroy it?” She questioned as she leant against the doorframe. “Easy, by releasing it from the moonstone” I told her shrugging my shoulder.

“How do you guys even know this is gonna work?” Elena asked as she walked over to us. “Because we have a crafty with on our side” Damon told her, which I don’t think Elena liked. “You discussed this with Bonnie?” She sighed. “She agreed to do anything she could to help us” Stefan told her so she didn’t flip out at us for going to speak to Bonnie. “It’s Katherine who has the moonstone she’s not gonna give it to you” Elena pointed out making me chuckle. “That’s exactly why we’re gonna get it from her, we’ll pry it from her cold, dead hands” I shrugged making her look at me. “Bonnie just needs to find a way to release the seal long enough for us to get in, get the moonstone and get out in time for her to return it” Stefan told her.

“Wow it sounds like you guys have it all planned out” She shook her head making me raise my eyebrows, why was she so against this? This was to save her life. “Yep we’re awesome” Damon smirked at her. “Except for one thing” Elena spoke making us look at her. “I don’t want you to do it” the three of us looked at each other confused. “What are you talking about? Elena we don’t have a choice” Stefan told her confused. “What about Klaus?” She questioned as leant towards him over the little island. “We’ll find him right after we get the moonstone” Stef explained to her. “Is that before or after he kills everyone that I care about?”

I looked over at her. “Okay I’m confused wasn’t I called to this town to help save your life? That’s exactly what I’m doing. If we de-spell the moonstone we save your life, then you can live on with your life doing everything a human wants” I told her raising my eyebrows. “I know, everybody keeps saying that” she spoke before walking over leaving the three of us to look at each other confused.

While been here in Mystic Falls there is one thing I’ve noticed and that’s everyone does anything they can for Elena and she’s very selfish and if it doesn’t go her own way she throws a strop or she does something to cause us more drama like now. Just as the three of us got to the tomb with Bonnie Bennett - a Bennett witch- to help us get in to the tomb to get the moonstone but of course we couldn’t even go down the stairs without Elena causing drama.

Turns out she had bribed Rose in to taking her to Slaters apartment in Richmond so she can hand herself over to Klaus, and of course been a slave to the sun for over 500 years Rose took the bribe in exchange for a daylight ring. “What the hell do you think your bloody doing here?” I snapped as we walked into the apartment. “What are you doing here?” Elena asked looking startled just as Rose walked in making Elena turn around towards her. “You called them?” She accused making me roll my eyes. “I’m sorry Elena” Rose apologised. “.696 said that you understood” I snorted rolling my eyes. “She lied” Damon spoke up but another human joined us. “Cassandra Russo and Damon Salvatore” She smiled at us like we was an idol of hers or something. “Get rid of her” I snapped glaring at the human because if she wasn’t gone I’ll get rid of her myself but if I did it she would no longer be breathing.

As Rose pulled the human out of the room Damon looked back at Elena. “Come on we’re leaving” he told her. “No” she shook her head making me sigh if she was gonna be a spoilt child I’ll end up treating her like one. “I said we’re leaving” Damon gritted out. “I’m not going with you” She once again denied. “You do not get to make decisions anymore” Damon told her and I was getting tired of this back and forth. “When have I ever made a decision? You and Stefan do that for me and now you can add Cassandra to that list” She argued making me roll my eyes. “And while your making these decisions who’s gonna save your life?” I asked her raising my eyebrows crossing my arms over my chest. “You’re not listening to me, I don’t want to be saved. Not if it means that Klaus is gonna kill everyone single person that I love” I clenched my fist to stop me from throwing the human doppelgänger over my shoulder.

“Get your ass out the door before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you out myself” Damon told her as he glared at her. I looked at him finally he puts the human in her place. When she didn’t move I gripped her wrist pulling her towards me. “No” she snapped trying to get out of my hold but once she realised that she couldn’t move she went to punch me in the face which I grabbed with my free hand sending her a deadly glare. “You wanna be thankful that my friend and his brother are dead set on saving your life, otherwise I’d kill you myself and then Klaus can’t break any curse. Now get your childish ass out of that door right now” I snapped glaring at her.

Damon went off to compel the human to forget everything that had happened while I kept my eye on Elena, of course the b***h was not liking that but I didn’t care I was pass caring. “Time to go. Alice is soundly sleeping and won’t remember a moment of this stupid day” Damon spoke as he walked out of the bedroom, but before we could move to head out the apartment doors burst open. “We’re here to meet the doppelgänger” One out of the three vampires that had joined us spoke. “Thank you for coming” Elena spoke up taking a step towards them, but I gripped her by the wrist stopping her. “I’ll break it” I warned her not taking my eyes off of the newcomers. “There’s nothing here for you” Damon told them just as the one who was stood closest to the door drops to the floor dead revealing a man, a man I knew should be dead.

Rose rushed off noticing that Elijah was in fact alive leaving myself, Damon, Elena, the two other vampires and now Elijah who stood in front of the two vampires. “I killed you, you were dead” Damon spoke up confused flicking his eyes over to mine but I was just as confused as he was. “For centuries now” Elijah told him before looking at the other two vampires in front of him. “Who are you?” He questioned but only got the same question back as an answer. “I’m Elijah”

“We we’re gonna bring her to you, for Klaus. She’s the doppelgänger I don’t know how she exists but she does. Klaus would wanna see her” one of them answered. “Does anyone else know you’re here?” Elijah asked him. “No” I rolled my eyes because that wasn’t helping the situation but also thankful nobody else knew that the doppelgänger was alive. “Well then you have been incredibly helpful” Elijah told them before he ripped their hearts out of their chests. As he pulled his hands out the bodies dropped to the floor revealing a heart in each of Elijah’s hands which he let drop to the floor. Before we could even comment or move Elijah rushed out of the apartment. “What the hell just happened?” I questioned looking over at Damon who looked just as confused as myself.

Going back to Mystic Falls neither me or Damon spoke to Elena, I still couldn’t get my head around the fact that Elijah was actually alive and not a rotting vampire. Of course that wasn’t the only drama because when we arrived at Elena’s house dropping her off Jeremy answer with a bandage on his neck. Turns out Jeremy decided to be the hero and go into the tomb himself so Bonnie didn’t have to help but he got himself stuck in there with Katherine who fed off of him, so of course Stefan with his hero hair rushed in to save Jeremy and pushed him out of the tomb only to get himself stuck in there himself and Bonnie didn’t know if she was strong enough to get him out. Of course Elena was crying hysterically outside the tomb because Stefan was stuck in with his ex.

“This wouldn’t have happened if we wasn’t off trying to save your life” I snapped at Elena who I pushed against the wall to stop her from going in to the tomb. “You didn’t even have to go after the moonstone in the first place” Elena argued glaring at me. “It was the right call. Remember I’m in town to save your life. I promised a really good friend I would so this is me not breaking my promise” I snapped at her, I was seriously starting to lose my patience with this child. “Right call? How is any of this the right call?” She questioned before trying to push me away. “Let go of me Cassandra” she snapped but I didn’t budge because I knew what she was going to do. “Let go of me” she cried seen as though I wasn’t moving. “You done?” Damon asked from behind me making her look over to him, she finally calmed down so I let go of her but she tried to go towards the entrance of the tomb making me block her way, after sending me and Damon a glare she stormed off and up the stairs.

I turned around as I heard someone walking towards us from the tomb. “Of all the i***t plans Stefan” Damon sighed looking at his little brother. “We’ll find a way to get you out” I spoke up making him look at me confused as I was been nice and helping him. “That’s all right, I’ll uh, I’ll handle myself. Bonnie has the moonstone work with her, try to figure out how to de-spell it” Stefan told us both sending me a weak smile. “You martyr yourself into a tomb and I get partnered with a semi-competent witch. Wonderful” Damon chuckled. “Keep Elena from here” Damon told us making me snort. “Yeah because that’ll be easy, your little girlfriend has decided the best option for all this is Suisse missions” I mumbled rolling my eyes the little girl was seriously getting in my last nerve.

There was only so much I can take of the doppelgängers whinging, like seriously your supposed to be a young adult shouldn’t you act like an adult not a child.
