When poles collide

I woke up to the sound of alarm blaring . I groaned and sat up . I blindingly reached for my fone and shut the alarm off. Man what was I thinking falling asleep now I wont be able to sleep at night . I quickly change into a a black tshirt and geans and wear a black cap . And head off to work.

Any one who thought I worked here at The Allele would think I was think I was the entertainment staff , if you know what I mean . The building structure is breathtaking. Its all black and I mean literally it is black from tiles to showerknobs to towels. Everytime I see it I fall in love . I got the job through a contact in the cleaning department here . At that time I just wanted a job that could pay bills and it landed right in my lap. My neighbor was talking about the job and i was so desperate I cajoled her into giving me the job by doing her manicure amd pedicure once a month . I like it here no small talking no unnecessary interactions just get the job done and thats it. I quickly get my head out of the clouds I have a job and I plan to keep it that way. I enter showing my staff ID and quickly make my way to the staffroom . I put my things in the locker , grab the uniform and get dressed . I step out to greet the manager. The manager has only one rule here. As long as I am not late and do the job ,he will stay out of my hair . I grab cleaning supplies and head for the reception. There i grab the list of rooms recently cleaned and start for the first room . The whole day is uneventful . After cleaning and restocking the rooms , I prepare to leave . Its late when I leave work . I make sure to grab my pepper spray ,not that I need it, just to be on the safe side. On my way home I grab groceries from 24/7 store. My apartment is about 20 min walk from the company so it is affordable and easy to walk. The chill in the makes me wish I had grabed a sweater. As I am about to enter the apartment complex building which is in desperate need of paint, I hear heavy breathing noises and heaving. I leave the groceries at the door and head to the alley adjacent to the apartment building. A gas pipe is broken releasing methane in the air with a slight hiss. The alley is dark and someones pipe is leaking water all over the asphalt .I take a step forward but freeze in mid air. What I see there makes me run southward. I force myself to stay calm and collected . I have seen many movies to know that if I am noticed I will be killed. I hide in the shadows and observe staying as still as possible. I see 2 men dumping a b****y woman in the dumpster. From the looks of if she is breathing slowly ,pupils are dilated and she looks pale . The men quickly dump her in , shut the lid and ran to the other end of alley . An SUV comes out of nowhere , they jump in and its out of sight . Its happens so fast that if not for the body in the dumpster i would have thought it was a dream or an illusion . I contemplate my options here , either I could run and pretend nothing happened in which case she will die .or report to the police and let them handle it OR call an ambulance for her. In milli second I make my mind concequences be damned I will not be able to sleep knowing full well I could have helped her. I run to the dumpster and open The lid I resist the urge to puke . I feel her pulse it is very weak . I'd call an ambulance but i know if i dont act now she wont make it . I pull her up piggybag style and start running towards the main road. I start opposite to the traffic ignoring the risk i am taking. I stand in the middle of the road . Suddenlg a car stops , it looks pretty expensive ughhhhh no time Sydney . The driver starts shouting but I quickly open the backdoor to find a beast of a man sitting inside . I pause before entering but quickly dismiss the concern . 'To the hospital ' I shout heaving . The driver is shocked and moves his eyes to the man beside me . ' Goddamit! Start the goddamn car!' I place the woman on my lap and her head rests on the tigh of the stranger. 'Move' one word by the man and the car moves with lightening speed . I check the woman's pulse . Its weak but it is there ' Hang in there you have to stay strong !' I start rubbing her palm of hands and sole of feet to give some warmth to her. Within 10 mins we are at general hospital .'open the window' I order . The window opens and I shout before the car stops ' EMERGENCY ' as loud as I could. They move her to the strecher immediately, I stand there as they take her inside . I mentally pat myself i did okay , she will be saved. I can feel the adralene rush slowing down and exhaustion is catching up to me. I crotch down there on the asphalt taking deep breaths . 'Man I am in deep s**t ' is the last thing I remember before I pass out.
