The Bad One or The Nerd One

Chapter 8

Jax's P.O.V.

I was trying desperately to get my head around the idea of tingles happening when you love someone when I heard her speak. "Hi, mum. Hi, neighbours" I lifted my head slowly as to greet her and the want to meet her eyes. I finally looked at to realise she was already looking at Helen. I could feel someone watching me intently from the side so I turned to meet her possessive boyfriend's gaze. 

"Katie you're finally here. Are you staying this time?" Helen seemed to be a tease. Never thought that day would come, an adult knowing how to tease so well.

"Why wouldn't I be mum?" She looked amazing and gorgeous.

"You ran off last time. You might go again." Helen seemed like the older, much older, and female version of me. The smug smirk and teasing people... Mainly girls... You get the idea. I expected a smart comeback but she just stood there opening and closing her mouth. I had to try so f*****g hard not to burst into fits of laughter. "Need some water to breathe honey?" Oh, Helen is good!

"Are you a psychic mum? That is exactly what I thought I looked like," Her eyes wide in shock.

"No honey. You just looked like a fish that needed water," Helen is amazing. Can she be my mother? I finally met her eyes and it was so worth it. Her blush made her so adorable.

"Who is everyone please mum?" 

"There is Katherine, Albert and you must already know that this is Jaxon," Helen pointed at each of us in turn once again. 

"No, I didn't know that was Jaxon," She admitted so quietly it was almost impossible to hear her. 'Timid little kitten.' No. No. No!

"This is Katie if you hadn't figured it out," Cody joked. It made my mum and dad laugh which is uncommon. While I continued to stare at her, imagining things that could never be mine. Waking up to her face. Everything to do with a relationship. I wonder what she thought of me. Could I ever be hers? These thoughts occupied my mind till it was time to have dinner. 

I got to sit next to her which made it so much easier to check for the tingles. I wonder if she will too. I needed the meat and it was close to Katie. It was perfect. I called her name softly but no response. I resorted to poking her arm till she responded. There was a small sensation in my finger but that could have been anything. I had started to stare over her head until she turned to face me with annoyance clear in her eyes. "What?" She was pissed and it was so clear to everybody.

"I was asking if I could have the meat, please." I do want the meat. 'You asked nicely' 

She looked over her shoulder before replying, "Do you really need it?" How can you go from angry to complaining in seconds? I hate girls.

"Yes."

"Fine!" She turned to her boyfriend, he doesn't deserve a name. "Zachy!" He has to pay attention, that voice would be torture near your ear. "Zachy baby!" I couldn't help it, I had to laugh. Relationship pet names are hilarious. I got a death glare for it but whatever. Katie must have been really annoyed as she then started to shake him getting slowly more vigorous every few seconds. I was sure she could feel the glares she was getting from Helen. Zac seemed to finely be in the present moment, "Finally Zac!" She now wore a big grin as she looked at him. "I need the meat." She just pointed at it. 

"That's why you have been disturbing me for ages!" Whoa, he knew she wanted to get his attention?

"You knew I was trying to get your attention! You knew and you continued to ignore me!" 

"Yes. Now please stop getting upset." Cold bro.

"Stop getting upset! You have been ignoring me for ages. I have been getting glares from mum and been laughed at and you continued to ignore me!"

"Kat. Will you stop please?"

"No, I will not! You ignored me! I called you that horrible nickname you gave yourself." Not a relationship pet name then. "I need to change your contact name from it and I hate it! You know I do!" Did not expect this from a good nerd.

"Katie! This is not the place to be having a petty friendship argument!" Does Helen not know they are dating?

"Petty friendship argument. He blows me off all the time. When he is around he is distant and like this. This is months. No years of anger built up inside of me coming out! This is not a petty argument!" Here come the tears. Is it a certain time for her at the moment? Whatever this is I am most definitely impressed at the quiet nerd girl. She may be a bit of a bad girl underneath this nerd look after all. I could get used to it. Before I could say anything to her, she ran out of the room and went off somewhere. I was going to follow her cause this is my fault.

"Don't worry about her Jaxon. She will be back down in a bit. Enjoy the food everybody." How could Helen act as though her daughter did not just yell at her boyfriend and her alike? I'm confused about this family. Are they good or bad? 'Both J' We finished the lovely dinner in an awkward silence where everybody kept looking at either Zac or Helen. 

"I might go check on Katie. Where is her room, Helen?" My father immediately gave me a warning look. 

"That might be a good idea Jaxon. Her room is the second on your left at the top." Helen gave me a warm smile.

"Thanks." I walked up the stairs and easily found her room. I knocked on the door and I could tell from her reply she was trying to control her voice. She was still upset. 

"Who's there?" 

"Jaxon," I replied as I leaned against the door.

"Why are you here? How did you know where my room was?" She was spiralling. 

"Don't worry. Your mum pointed me in the right direction as she seems to think that I'm the person you are not annoyed at," I scoffed. "I don't see how that could be true seeing as I'm the reason you were trying to get your boyfriends attention." I could feel jealousy building inside of me. 

"He isn't my boyfriend, Jaxon," Does that mean she is single? Wait not her boyfriend. So her mum was right. A friendship argument, not boyfriend-girlfriend related. 'Dude you are dumb. Listen dumbass!' "...Mega-rich." She opened the door and I fell straight inside. I got her to laugh so guess her mum was right.

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it all up. Laugh at my poor sorry ass." I hated embarrassing myself in front of people, especially girls.

"What did you think I was going to do?" Is she f*****g serious right now?

"I don't know. Maybe help a poor guy up?" I used the puppy eyes. Nobody can resist them. I was mistaken. I have found someone immune to the puppy eyes. She has no soul!

"No chance." She walked further into her room so I grabbed her ankle and made sure she fell to the ground. "Face-plant time!" This girl is insane. Who looks forward to a face-plant? Have I met the devil in this house?

"Not the response I was looking for but...You. Are. On. The. Floor!" She looked so cute and adorable looking at me through her lashes that I closed my eyes and started to dance around her. I could only imagine what my parents were thinking. Most likely the worst possible outcomes. They know me but I wouldn't do it to her. Not yet anyway. I just had to make a fool of myself again by falling over one of her shoes on the floor. It must have been funny as Katie almost crying from laughing.

"What is going on in here? Your mum and dad are thinking of some gross things Jaxon." Zac said from the door. I mean what did I say? 'You never said anything. You thought it idiot.' "Why are you both on the floor in fits of laughter?"

"Jaxon was... leaning on the door... I opened it and he fell in." She found this too funny. I swear I will hurt her if anybody at school finds this out.

"Calm down Kat will ya." She managed to a bit which was better for me. I guess.

"She wouldn't help me up so I grabbed her ankle when she started to walk away. Her turn to fall." I had to make it sound so bad at the end, didn't I?

"He got so happy he started to dance around..." You had to mention that I danced. Can I not get a break from this Katie? "Come on Mr Grumpy. Can't you laugh for once?" She is an actress. I can confirm it and so can Zac.

I may have made a friend my parents agree to and an enemy. Zac seems to hate my guts and I have no idea why. I think it might have something to do with the opposite gender whose name begins with K and ends in Atie.

The rest of the night was pretty decent. We lounged in Katie's room for the rest of the evening with her forcing us to watch a romance film. She can be damn scary. I was not going to say no to her. She threatened to tell the whole school about my dancing and laughing with her. Nobody is to every know that the heartless bad boy of the city can be broken in hours. I don't know how she managed to convince Zac as she didn't even threaten him. Or maybe she sent him a message. I am not going to mess with her though. 

I just left her a little surprise for when she wakes up in the morning. I was bored in the film so I decided to take her phone and enter my number. I sent myself a message and deleted it from her phone. Hope you like the surprise, Angel.
