A few hours later, Diana was laying on a twin sized mattress that had been materialized from some unknown part of the house. The mattress sat bare on the floor, without a frame or even linens to warm it up. It was the only thing in the tiny room, more accurately described as a closet. She stared at the ceiling. The only saving grace was that Maxwell’s men had mercifully removed the handcuffs that bound her wrists. Though, of course, she was not so sure if it was mercy or simply a directive of the Westerlys. In the clear, unspoken power struggle she seemed stuck in the middle of, such little things appeared to be of the utmost importance. It made Diana tired. She dozed lightly, not really relaxed enough to fall asleep but not entertained enough to keep her eyes open. She didn’t know how
