Chapter Twelve
The paramedics brought Marissa into the emergency room. Surprisingly, she had sustained only minor injuries. Her vital signs were nearly normal now, and she had regained consciousness. The physician asked her if she knew where she was. She informed him that she did not. When in actuality, she did know exactly where she was. Marissa could be quite cagey when the need arose. She would play the amnesia game. This would protect her from being questioned by the authorities. She was unaware that the police were onto her scam and that Robert Stein had been rescued. The authorities had witnessed her coercing Mr. Stein into the barn with a gun. The telephone calls to Trevor had been traced and recorded. Marissa had no knowledge of this either.
