Chapter 7 The Healing Begins

Elle’s POV:

                                       “That’s our mate! I can smell and feel the bond!” Bellona links me excitedly. “We must be careful though; do you not remember what we have been through and just escaped from before getting captured again?” I almost yell at her through the link. “Of course, I was there with you and keeping you strong. We will be careful, but I know that our mate will not hurt us. Try and give him a chance.” She says gently. “Fine.” I say to her. As soon as I reply back to Bellona, our mate speaks to me. “Elle….? Is that you” he asks me. “Yes, I try say as confidently as I can.” “It’s me Jax, one of your best friends.” He tells me, but I don’t remember him. There are only a few things that I remember about my past life, most them have to do with my name. favorite things, how to read, write, spell, anything that made me more than a wild animal. The other guy that’s with him turns around and looks at me wide eyed and mouth open. I think his name is Kai, he smells familial. He must be related to me somehow but there again I do not remember him. “Elle, It’s you! I’ve missed you so much!” He says to me with teary eyes. I study him some more; he doesn’t look very old and he smells of a high rank. He must be a Beta. “Elle, do you remember me?” he asks me hopefully. I feel bad for what I’m about to say. “I’m sorry, but I don’t remember you. However, you smell of familial scent. So, I know that you are related to me, if that helps.”  He sadly replies “It is okay, you look like that you have been through a lot. I am your younger brother Kai.”  It was silent for a few minutes as the doctor was taking my vitals and weight. She then goes on to tell me how I need to eat slow and little meals with many snacks in between. She also tells me that I should not shift until I am fully recovered. “Okay Elle, I will see you in a week for a checkup” she tells me kindly. After she is gone, Jax softly asks “Elle, are you hungry? Would you like some food?” I wait a few seconds to reply in case it’s a trap. “I would like to eat, please.”  I ask him with my head down and no eye contact. I don’t want to seem like I am challenging him. A few moments pass us, and I am starting to get nervous, he finally answers “Kasey, a close friend of ours will be bringing us a sandwiches and soup. Do you mind if she stays and eats with us?” He asks me. “I don’t mind if she joins, but what did you mean by close friend of ours?” Jax and Kai look both troubled, I wonder if I said something wrong. “At one point in time You, Kasey, and I were all really close, we were best friends.” He tells me with a hint of sadness in his voice. “Oh” Is all I say back. We sit in silence until Kasey knocks on the door to come in. she has a rolling thing that is sliver looking that has bowl and plates with food. The food smells delicious, it takes everything I have not to run over there and eat it all. She gives us all our food and sits down with us. “Hi Elle, I hope you like chicken and noodles with grilled cheese.” She says almost above a whisper. “It smells delicious” I reply. I study them as they eat, the eat differently than what I am used too. They don’t use their hands. I grab the sliver thing they are holding and try to copy them, but I am a little shaky. The soup is hot but super good. I try to eat a normal pace but its hard for how hungry I am. Kai speaks up and says “Elle, if you dip your sandwich in the soup, it tastes super good. That used to be the only way you would eat your soup.” I try what he says, and it is super good! This is a really good meal. Besides me trying to eat it slowly, I still finish way before them. I watch them cautiously as they eat, they so far seem to be nice wolves. Maybe they are telling the truth. Kasey looks up at me ask “Elle would like to go take a shower and rest’ ‘okay’ I reply. She stands up and offers a handout to me, I shake my head no. I start to get up by myself. However, I am still weak, and I fall back down to the ground. Jax rushed over to me and I let out a low warning growl to him.  ‘Its okay. I just want to help you.’ He replies back quickly. I nod at him and he helps back up and we start walking and up a bunch of stairs. I hate stairs, I’m pretty sure its only like 20 stairs but still they suck. I can’t believe I growled at him; he probably didn’t take it very seriously. I mean hell what would I do anyway. Here I am one of the great legendary warriors and I’m too weak to even f*****g walk. Bellona growls at me ‘We maybe weak now, but we are a great warrior and will be remembered as such.  Keep in mind young wolf that we are one.’ I didn’t reply back to her; I know that she is right. I just do not like being weak, I don’t like to be vulnerable and right now I am. I also have a lot of built up anger too. It was a short by agonizingly slow walk to what I guess is Jax’s house. HIs house is huge and beautiful, I have not seen something this beautiful in a long time. He realizes that I have stopped trying to walk and he just lets me take in the scenery. The house is at least two stories tall and the bottom is a beautiful gray stone with the top is a light brown. hes got a beautiful gray door with three little windows at the top. there are huge tall windows on each side of the door. there is a gray stone pathway that matches the stone the house. There a are gorgeous yellow and red flowers along the pathway. there is also a gorgeous little tree in the front yard that has beautiful little pink flowers all over it. I can only imagine the inside must be much nicer.
