Chapter 4 She is back

Ariana’s P.O.V
“Mila, Minnie” A bright smile formed on my face, kissing the two of them on the cheeks before my face contorted in a slight frown as I dropped them back to the ground.
Crouching before them, I pulled them on the cheeks playfully in a way that caused them to wince and chuckle at the same time.
With my hands on my lap, I said. “What did mummy say about taking things from strangers”
Mila pouted. “Anna isn’t a stranger, she is our friend”
Minnie glanced at Mila, giving her a jab with her elbow. “I told Mila not to accept it. But she accepted it and……” Her words trailed off, as she resorted to scratching her head.
I sighed. “The bottom line is that you accepted it”
She muttered under her breath. “Yes, I accepted it”
“I am not trying to say that is a bad thing to accept something from a friend but where did she get the money from to buy her two friends an ice cream”
The two of them lowered their heads while I pulled them closer to me, hugging them tightly. “You know that I love you two so much. I would do anything for the two of you” I squeezed my eyes shut, their beautiful scent wafting through my nostrils in a way that wanted me to drown in it.
I loved both Mila and Minnie. I loved them so much that I would give my life for them and do everything in my power to see a smile on their faces.
Mila and Minnie were like the light that brightened my dark world.
With my eyes squeezed shut, I could feel someone’s presence, like a shadow that was cast over me.
My eyelashes fluttered open slowly and somehow a man stood before me. In a bid to have a clearer vision of the man who stood right in front of me, I couldn’t help but strain my eyes but with time, his face got clearer and clearer in a way that almost made my eyes bulge out of his sockets.
Pushing Mila and Minnie off me, I clambered up, my stomach tying a knot and for a second, I thought that I was having a problem with my eyesight.
However, when he uttered my name, it dawned on me that everything that was happening was real and damned real!
“Ariana” His lips wobbled as my name danced on his tongue.
At that very moment, my pulse sped up and a wave of anger rushed through me! The anger that wanted me to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle him to death.
Staring at his face made my stomach tie a knot as my fingers slowly balled into fists.
“What are you doing h…….” Before I could complete my statement, he swooned me in a hug in a way that caused my hands to dangle helplessly by my side.
I stood still, everything seemed to be fading but the only thing that didn’t fade was the anger, resentment, and hatred that I held towards the man whose arms I was in.
Before I knew what was happening, he buried his head on my shoulder, crying.
At that very moment, that witch, Maya, stood behind him with her mouth agape and my eyes traveled to the little girl next to her, licking the same ice cream that I saw with Mila and Minnie.
Gathering the last bit of strength inside of me, I pushed Sebastian off me, staring daggers at him.
“I thought you were dead!” He cried.
Maya quickly rushed towards him. “You can’t do this here, you are embarrassing me”
Sebastian jerked her hands off him, yelling at her. “Stay away from this! They told me that you were dead. I searched all around for you, I searched everywhere for you Ariana……why?”
Tilting my head to the left, I shot him a glare. “You should listen to your wife, you shouldn’t cause a scene around the children! Don’t forget that you and I are divorced”
Sebastian ran his hands through his hair frustratedly, his gaze landing on Mila and Minnie. “You got remarried? They are your children?”
I scoffed, staring at him in utter disbelief. “They are my children and so what? Mr Sebastian, it is a pleasure meeting you here but acting like this before everyone is not something you should do towards someone that you have just seen for a very long time”
Mila and Minnie tugged at my dress. “Mummy, who is he?” Minnie asked.
My heart sank because of that question but at the same time, I didn’t hold back. “Just someone that mummy once knew. You don’t need to bother yourselves since he is now a stranger” I glared at him.
At that very moment, Arthur appeared and I couldn’t be more grateful that he appeared!
He wrapped his hands around my waist and in that very moment, Mila and Minnie squealed in excitement as they screamed. “Daddy!”
Sebastian staggered, more like he was about to lose balance.
I knew that he was shocked!
He was taken by surprise and never in his wildest imagination as he ever imagined that I would be in the arms of his competitor, Arthur!
Sebastian exclaimed. “He is the father of your twins…..Arthur”
“Yes, he is the father of my kids! Do you have any problem with that?”
Arthur stretched his hands towards Sebastian for a handshake. “Isn’t it nice that we are meeting again like this? The world is a small one indeed, the first time we met was when you were the highest bidder at an auction and the second time is now…..”
Sebastian stared at his hands hanging in the air and with the way he looked on and on, it was evident that he was too stunned to speak.
I interlocked my arms in that of Arthur, staring at him right in the eyes. “Mila and Minnie must be starving already. After such a long race…..”
Arthur interrupted, swooping both Mila and Minnie in his hands. “Let us celebrate this feat by cutting a cake!”
I shifted my gaze away from them, fixing it on the little girl who stood next to Maya. “If you would like to join, then you should come with us.”
Maya’s P.O.V
“No!” I yelled but toned down my voice in an attempt to mask my anger with a fake smile.
“We need to leave” I swallowed while Ariana's eyes swept down my body before she turned and left.
As soon as she left, every part of me wanted to explode in anger.
Those darned twins were Ariana’s kids! Now I know why I have always had the biggest ick about those twins.
Plus, she was now married to Arthur? The richest billionaire in the world? How does that even make any sense?
What in the world did that man see in a poor country girl like Ariana? How was he able to fall in love with her? He was the reason why she eyed me with those condescending eyes!
I had a bad feeling about Ariana showing up after so many years after I had told the private investigator that Sebastian had hired in search of Ariana to lie about her dying in a plane crash with her family.
“Something is wrong somewhere! Where has she been hiding all along?”
With my eyes fixed on Ariana and Arthur who walked away with those twins, something couldn’t help but pop up in my head.
Mila and Minnie were the same age as Anna!
If they were the same age as Anna, then were they Arthur’s children, or they were Sebastian’s children?
