Detective Smith POV.
After speaking to Nina, the girl that claimed a wolf scratched her. I got to see how possessive the young alpha was. Nina was indeed his mate, but she clearly didn’t know that. In fact, she was oblivious to the fact that she was dating a werewolf. I searched her whole neck while speaking to her and she didn’t bear a mark that indicated she wasn't mated. Yet.
If he hadn’t told her yet, he had planned to tell Nina about his own kind. I know for a fact that werewolves who are mated to humans always tell them. Once Nina knew that he was a werewolf, she would either accept him or reject him. Either way, if she is eighteen by then, the hunter rule will not apply to her. Even though she is human, she will be marked and be mated to a murderous monster.
