Chapter 4: The Awakening

Selene pov

Without wasting time, I told my father all about my plan, making sure to remove the part where I would meet everyone in the park, including him, despite Elysia for good. He agreed to it and told me he was not able to get her drugged yesterday. He had a thought that she and Cassian had met again last night because Cassian still sat in the garden, which faced directly to her window. But I told him not to worry about that. Because I had a plan that even if they knew they were mates, it wouldn't work out.

Just then, I rushed to the training center to see that Elysia was already there. I had my copy of her dress in my bag, only to see that even Alpha Cassian had come to have a conversation with her. I decided to get close to them, and that was when I heard Cassian telling Elysia that he couldn't believe that they were actually mated to each other and how much he wanted to be with her.

“Oh my God. My plans were totally about to be ruined. I have to do something about this before he marks her as his mate.” As I got even closer, I heard a word that made me quicken my plans. “How about I tell your father about this exciting news, and he lets me mark you as soon as possible? I don't want you staying here for long. And besides, I knew right from the start that you were the one. It was more than obvious. The second I came out of the car, I knew it was going to be you,” he said, making me grip my hand into a tight fist, feeling so angry.

“I have to ruin this as quickly as possible before it is something I cannot do anymore. I have to make my father proud.”

Elysia POV

As I lifted the weight slowly, I couldn't help but notice that Selene was bothered and slowly getting close to us. Like she wanted to hear something. Like she was anticipating something. But I decided to just wave it off as I continued while listening to Katya promising me that my father would accept for him to mark me. It seems as though he does not know how strict my father is and how he won't want me to prosper while Selene stays there being meatless.

I decided to accept it as I could not help but smile at the memories of last night when we both found out we were mates. It seems as though his character changed from what he had always imposed on himself to be. He became so nice to me. I couldn't help but smile as I felt happy. I had finally found someone who would care and love me despite my flaws. I made sure to tell him everything, and he really did not mind about it, which made me even more glad that I had met him and he was ready to do anything for me.

As I continued the exercise, I felt like I was being too happy and things could easily go sideways. Just then, my phone began to ring, and it was from my father. I picked it up and he instructed me to return to the palace as I had special training to do personally with him. I felt confused because we never actually did that and he usually had those kinds of trainings with Selene alone.

And now him calling for me and saying that he wants me to be part of this training really amused me. I turned to Selene and questioned, “What about Selene, Dad? Aren't you going to call her too for the special training?” I questioned, but he laughed.

“I told you last night that I am ready to make changes and I am ready for you to be better. I want to also be proud of you and to show you that I really meant my word. I want you to start the training,” he said. I couldn't help but smile, feeling like everything was finally going the way I wanted. But I shook my head, trying to push away those thoughts.

Just then, I saw the palace car drive into the training premises and the guards came out. I knew that I had to follow them. I walked towards Cassian as he held my hand romantically with a smile. “I would see you in the palace in a jiffy,” he said as I nodded before walking away. As the guards drove off, I continued to turn around multiple times with a smile on my face. I could not even stop myself from being happy. I guess I finally deserved the happiness I always wanted, I thought to myself as we drove off.

If only I knew that that would be the last time I would get to see Cassian so happy and wanting me so badly, I wouldn't have left.

Selene POV

This was my perfect opportunity as I watched Elysia step out. I quickly brought out my phone and all the bad news and false information. I began to spread false news about Elysia out. I was more than ready to eliminate her, and I was going to do that on my own without anybody's help. After that, I watched as Cassian was about to leave. I sprinted up in action and rushed towards him as I remembered I can only do this if he thinks of me as Elysia.

I rushed into the restroom, changed my dress, and behaved like I was coming back from the car which I had just driven off, looking sad. He soon fell for my trap as he thought it was me. He rushed towards me and yelled, “What is wrong, Elysia?” he said.

I tried my best to mimic Elysia's voice. “I don't think my father is happy with me. He still sees me as unworthy of his time and effort. Why don't you let us seal the bond for good so that I can finally be free from him? I want to follow you back to your park. I want to be with you. And the only way to do that is if you make me yours right now,” I said to him.

He looked at me emotionally. “But I need your father's consent before I do something like that.”

“No, you don't. He won't accept me. He won't let you be with me. He will tell you to pick Selene over me again. Please just do this for me now,” I said to him as I stretched out my hand, ready for him to mark me.

As foolish as he was, he fell for it as he bit on my arm, marking me. I could not help but smile as he looked up at me with a questionable look. “Are you Selene?” he questioned.

I knew that he was going to realize that we did not seal as mates. His wolf would have told him, but I was ready to risk it all.

“And if I am not Selene , what does it change? I am better than her and it is I who you deserve”.
