Lailani’s POV I couldn’t believe what had just happened. The way Aziel had looked at me—eyes blazing with a mix of anger and something else that I couldn’t quite place—had left my mind spinning. His words still rang in my ears, the tone sharp and bitter, the way he had accused me of getting too close to Lucas. It was as if the world had shifted, the ground beneath my feet unstable, uncertain. What was even more frustrating was that he hadn’t outright said it—hadn’t admitted it aloud—but it was there. The jealousy. The possessiveness. And I wasn’t sure whether I should be flattered or infuriated by it. Either way, the intensity of the moment had left me feeling angry, confused, and more than a little disoriented. So, I walked away. I didn’t need to confront him about it, not right now.
