Chapter 5: Day 33, Day 39, Day 44Colby, back at Will’s desk, gazed out upon a grey Bath street, as it stood in for London; being Will, he did not see the bustle of carriages, fashionable skirts, colorful umbrellas, boisterous life. He sighed, and ran a hand through his hair, and let his gaze drift to the papers spread out before him. The room was cozy—Will’s servants were loyal, and loved him, and hurt for his loss; a fire burned near constantly—and he had tea, which he’d forgotten to drink. He hovered a pen over a cipher, which he had solved but not written out properly; he could not focus on the wording of his message. The answers meant safety.
