Onyx walked into a*****e, her eyes darting around as she stared. She had walked into this store, hoping to get jewelry for herself.
She had had at least up to thirty thousand yuan in her account, which was enough to gift herself some jewelry.
After walking into the store, her eyes moved to rest on the receptionist who did not even glance at her.
“Ahem” she cleared her throat to notify her presence, and the young woman stared up at her, scanning her from head to toe.
Her expression twisted from friendliness to disgust on seeing that Onyx was not wearing any designer clothes.
To add to her disgust, Onyx's face was just disgusting to look at.
The receptionist couldn't be bothered about her and just continued her business.
Onyx's eyes turned cold at this.
“Can I see your jewelry?” she asked, trying to be polite as she asked the receptionist, who snorted before turning to look at her.
“This is not some cheap store, miss. One jewel costs a few thousand yuan, so I suggest you move to the next store.” She said, making Onyx smile in amusement.
Did the woman think she didn't have money just because of her appearance?
“Oh, but I do have the money.” Onyx said, her lips curling up, but to the woman, her expression was hideous.
She couldn't bring herself to look at Onyx's face anymore and just averted her gaze.
“Please leave or I'll call security.” She said, and Onyx did not bother to react.
She calmly walked into the store, her eyes catching the sight of a pendant that rested beautifully on a glass.
The receptionist felt angry at this behavior.
“You better leave right now, or you'll be sorry!” She yelled, almost making everyone in the store turn, but Onyx felt amused by this behavior.
She calmly picked up the jewel, her eyes scanning it deeply.
It was a stunning, handcrafted pendant adorned with intricate patterns and symbols.
The centerpiece was a polished, deep-blue jade stone, surrounded by delicate, golden filigree that resembled intertwining vines. The jade stone was teardrop-shaped, with a subtle, shimmering quality that catches the light.
Dangling from the pendant was a tiny, ornate tassel made from silk threads in a gradient of blue, echoing the hue of the jade.
The tassel was adorned with miniature, glittering silver beads that added a touch of whimsy to the overall design.
And the amulet's chain was a dainty, 18-karat gold rope with a subtle texture, complementing the pendant's ornate details.
“Chóngshēng” Onyx muttered under her breath. It was the Chinese word for rebirth.
That was the name of the pendant she was holding.
Emotions swirled in her eyes, but before she could dwell deeper, she heard the security walk towards her.
She raised her brows in question as she cast the receptionist a glance, but the woman only sneered.
The men had been told that a woman had been making trouble, and when they finally saw Onyx's face, they were even more convinced that she indeed was capable of making trouble.
They had judged her by her appearance yet again. This did not bother her though.
“I would like to purchase this.” She said, holding up the pendant, making the receptionist chuckle.
“You're so funny, miss. Do you think you can afford that?” She asked, and Onyx stared at her without any reaction as she continued to chuckle.
“Please lead her out.” The woman said to the security, and they nodded.
They grabbed Onyx by the arm, not expecting her to protest, but they were surprised to find themselves on the floor before they even touched her. It felt as though their bones had been broken by this seemingly weak girl.
The receptionist’s eyes widened in shock as she witnessed the scene.
Onyx's moves were all so fast, she didn't even know what happened.
“You-” she started to say, pointing at Onyx, popping a vein on her forehead.
“Ahem, what's going on here?” A voice sounded behind them, and they both turned to see a man walk in, dressed in a suit.
They all knew this man except for Onyx, who stared at him with an unimpressed expression. She did not care who he was at all.
“Sir…” the receptionist stared, but was shushed when the man held up a hand in the air, indicating for her to keep mute. She could only shut her mouth.
When she saw him walk over to Onyx, she inwardly rejoiced.
He was going to throw her out.
“I'm sorry for the inconvenience, miss. If it pleases you, I shall fire them.” The man said, surprising not only the receptionist but Onyx herself.
She didn't even know the man.
Her gaze moved to rest on the receptionist, whose eyes were wide as saucers, making the man nod.
“Very well.” He said, his gaze turning to the receptionist, as well as the men that had been beaten up by Onyx.
“Do not come to work tomorrow.” he said in dismissal, and the woman's eyes twitched. She suddenly remembered how this was her only hope for income. But it was already too late.
“Please pick whichever jewel you like, and it will be given as compensation for the terrible behavior of the workers.” The man said, and Onyx's expression remained unchanged.
She held up the pendant in her hand, making the man nod.
He asked other receptionists to pack up the jewel, smiling as they handed it over to Onyx, who thanked them.
As she stepped out of the store, she couldn't help feeling that something was wrong, yet she pushed the thoughts aside.
“A few thousand wouldn't hurt the store.” She muttered, smiling in content.
She had not only practiced combat in her new body, but she had also gotten good jewelry for free.
She decided to treat herself to some ramen noodles.
Meanwhile, after Onyx left, Ethan also returns to the company.
He could only notify the boss about Onyx.
Since yesterday, when she had mistaken the boss’s car for an Uber. He took it up on himself to find out about her.
Especially because their boss, who had a disorder for years, and did not let others touch him, had the woman touch
him, and he did not seem disgusted. This only meant to Ethan that the boss liked the woman.
As he opened the door to the office, his eyes widened at the sight.
