Chapter 4

*Rieka* Are they serious? Is he serious? Oh damn, my thoughts were falling into pieces as I processed what he had just said. I wouldn't return to the human world, which also meant that I was abandoning my studies and all the achievements I had thought of making. I'll be abandoning my parents. Everything!! I would be abandoning my life. "But—." I was saying before a female voice which I recognized to be the voice of the lady that had told Conri to stand down, interrupted me. "Don't ever talk back at the Alpha, you're lucky he's kind enough to still keep you alive." She warned and I couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with her. I might be calm and lovable and weak but I never accepted a brittle tongue. "Tala—." Conri started but I cut him off as I stood up abruptly, totally forgetting that I was in front of the werewolf king. "Oh great. Your name is Tala, Tala do we have a problem?." I questioned tilting my head in a questioning manner. "Are you by any chance talking to me?." She shot back, stepping forward in a challenging manner. Oh boy, this girl really wants me to react harshly. "Uhmmm, is there any other loose mouth here other than you!?" I retorted. Seeing this Tala of a being so annoyed got me happy to the brink. "Don't you dare–" Tala was about to say but was cut short by the werewolf king. "It's obvious your brain isn't amidst other things but don't tell me that your wolf ears aren't hearing too." I retorted and she was taken aback. Exactly!! That's what I thought. "See what we get for keeping her alive, she runs her mouth around and insults everyone. Who knows? She might insult the Alpha next, all thanks to Conri." She snarled, eyeing me with pure hatred blazing in her eyes. " Tala, I repeat....stop spurting nonsense," Conri warned and the atmosphere became thick and dominating as Conri spoke. Even if Conri wasn't the Alpha or Beta, he should be someone really important because the vibes and aura he was exuding were just too much. "What?. You're gonna scream at me now because you've met a charming human princess, huh?." Tala snarled, rolling her eyes in discontentment. It almost looked like I could see right through her soul and all I could see. was pure malice and hatred......and jealousy! Jealousy! If that was really what I saw, then she must be stupid because there is no logical reason why she should be feeling jealous in this scenario. "Everyone shut it." The Alpha growled and the room went silent while I was brought back to the present immediately. I was actually talking sassy right in front of this king, what if he reconsiders and decides that I'm better off dead? Damn it!! "Tala, you better get a hold of your attitude. Take the mundane to a quarter." He ordered and she bowed in courtesy. "Come with me, mundane." She stated, that calling the 'mundane' with so much sarcasm and hatred like being human was a sin. As far as I know, no one decides what they become or what creature they turn out to be. "I'm going nowhere with you." I repeatedly folded my hands like I was challenging her to a fight. She better not think about fighting, because if she did then she just wants to kill me. Either way, I followed her seeing that no one would listen to me. "So now, we are not close to anyone and I expect you to keep talking like a tap," Tala mocked. Oh heavens! "Do you even know when to stop!? You were asked to take me to MY chambers," I shot at her and watched her eyes bulge out in surprise. I emphasized so much on the word "MY", not like I want to remain here or anything... I want to get out of here. "Are you in any way seeing me as your maid?" Tala questioned me with a scrutinizing look. There she goes. "Are you in any way seeing yourself as my maid?" I used her line on her as a smirk escaped my lips. This is getting exciting–if only she would just allow us to go on a talking spree and not fight. "You do know I'm alone with you right?" Tala questioned as she resumed walking. "And, you do know that you'd get severely punished if you dared lay a hand on me," I said with so much confidence. I was supposed to get scared of her murderous demeanor and her words, I don't know why or how but I felt relaxed and.....Sleepy? Maybe she was singing a lullaby. I want to clarify, her voice isn't pleasant either. I covered my mouth with the back of my hand as I let out a yawn. " Where is the chamber? I have been walking for heaven knows how long." I muttered tiredly. "Shut it already!!!" Tala screeched. "Listen up mundane! This is not a place of defined roses neither is anyone gonna treat you right here, you can as well see yourself as a slave." Tala listed and at the same time stopped at a door in the grand hall. I watched how gigantic the room was. I didn't have the time to listen to her blabbing. I entered the room, pushing Tala out of the way. The next minute I was dragged by the hair. "How dare you push me!?" Tala growled. Instead of thinking of any way to get help, I slapped her across her face. " Don't you dare and ever mis-hand me like that!!!" I shouted. "I love stubborn puppets like you." She said and smiled, licking the blood that appeared on her lips in the process. She was about to attack but then I got really angry. "Stay put!!!" I commanded. I'm yet to know where the audacity came from. When I made that statement, Tala started taking steps back. "Good doggy!" I commented and climbed the bed in the room.
