Chapter 5

*RIEKA* I pretended to be asleep and waited patiently for Tala to leave the room. Laying on the bed... I thought I'd drift off to sleep but no, I wanted to take a walk around this grand house. I peeked my eyes open when I noticed the doors closing. Oh goodness!!! The bed was so soft...I bounced on the incredibly soft bed while standing on top of it. I couldn't help but wonder why I was adapting to this unknown place filled with animals but somehow I felt this strong connection to this place. I'm going to miss my parents and definitely Heedah. The adventurous and inquisitive part of me decided to have a little tour around the area so I stood up and exited the room. As I toured, thank goodness I didn't come across any wolf. It seemed like they were all going about their business and not even minding my presence. Then I stumbled upon a library and my eyes glistened in ecstasy. Everything wasn't lost after all, I would be able to Investigate and go through the books here... Just in case, I find a way in the future to leave this place, I would have enough story to tell. That's if I ever get to leave this place! I walked into the library and damn!!... Whoever is in charge of this library, doesn't know how to take care of books. It wasn't arranged nicely and they were all dusty. Gosh, it's sinful to leave a library like this. After all, books are life! Due to my love for books, I began stacking up the books in the right position. Bringing down and repositioning, it looked better to me as I dusted it. I don't know why I was undergoing this hassle but it's what I loved doing so, it's no big deal. But then I immediately stopped arranging when my eyes caught sight of a particular book. This book so much looked like the book I found in my house which is located in the middle of nowhere. I got really intrigued. I was curious to learn more about the book and why it matched the one I had at home. I carefully dusted the book and carried it back to my chambers. Driven by curiosity, I was eager to unveil the connection between this book and the one I had stumbled upon in my course house's library. As I arrived at the room, I opened the book and went through it. Within the pages of the book lay ancient prophecies. As I perused its contents, I realized that some had come to pass, while others were ominously inscribed in blood. Flipping through the pages, I saw a photo of me and Conri and our names written in blood. The book fell from my hands and gave a little thud. I was shocked, at whatever this prophecy was about as I wasn't able to read it because it was written in the ancient Greek language, all I knew was that there were a lot of pointers in my direction. I was connected to this place somehow!!! But how? That's not supposed to be possible right? Out of nowhere, a soft knock resonated from the door. Acting on instinct, I concealed the book beneath the duvet before heading to answer the summons. "Who is it?." I asked as I opened the door hoping to see Tala because who else would be interested in me but my imagination was caught shut as I saw Conri standing there. I opened the door widely so he could enter and the minute he stepped into my room, the atmosphere became hot. Why wouldn't it be hot when a breathtakingly handsome young man was in my room? And besides he was shirtless. I'm repeating this: it's quite sinful to be this hot. "I see you're adapting quite fast." He commented, as his eyes surveyed the room. I was meant to respond, but an unshakable lump in my throat hindered me. I don't know why but I felt fidgety and hot whenever Conri was around, it was like he had this effect on me that no one else had. "And besides, I came to apologize for Tala's behavior earlier. You should know you're mundane and it would take quite a while before they accept you." Conri said in a husky voice and it was then I realized that he had been standing all the while he came and I was also standing and admiring his biceps. "Tala, she's such a pain in the ass but she isn't difficult to handle though. " I said sitting on the bed as I gestured to an empty seat. He took his seat as well and began peering at me like he was looking through my soul and I became uncomfortable. "Is something on my face? " I questioned as he wouldn't stop staring. "Of course not, I came to tell you something. " He said and my ears stood in response. Damn!! Was he about to tell me that I was free to leave this pack? Because that would be great news!!! "Alright, I'm all ears," I said and he cleared his throat, still peering at me like whatever it was he wanted to say was hard to proceed out of his mouth. "I'm listening." I urged on and then he heaved a sigh. "I'm curious," I chirped in, attempting to coax the words from his mouth. "If you're suggesting I can depart from the pack, that would be intriguing." "I don't know how you would take this but you can't leave this pack. Not now, not ever." He said and my expression immediately saddened me. "Why is that? Your Alpha won't let me?." I queried as I wondered why wolves were hard to bend. They were quite proud beings!! "Even if the Alpha permits you to leave, you just can't leave." He said and I saw a distant look in his eyes like he was contemplating. "Why??." I yelled, I'm so tired of all the suspense. "That's because you're my mate and I'm not letting you go!." He replied defiantly with a hoarse voice. What?
