The sirens came blaring half an hour later, cutting through the blood soaked silence and painting the crumbling estate in hues of red and blue. Police cruisers sped into the driveway with their lights flashing across the broken front door of what had once been a luxurious and peaceful home. Inside the fortified safe room, Isabella stood motionless, with her pistol still hanging loosely at her side. Her servants huddled fearfully behind her, their eyes wide with fear and disbelief. The blaring sirens snapped her out of her daze. “It’s over,” she whispered, mostly to herself. “We’re safe now.” But she didn’t feel safe…Not fully anyways.
