I stared at him in astonishment, letting his words sink in.
“Walk away?” I repeated, wanting to ascertain if I had heard him right the first time.
“Yes, you walk away. Since I am the one bringing her back to life, she’s mine by default. Once she opens her eyes, you vanish from her life- forever," he beckoned.
“Why? Why do you even want her when you do not love her anymore? Are you trying to punish me?” I probed in a low voice, perplexed.
He scoffed, bringing his face close to mine.
“Who told you I stopped loving her? I never did. And in all fairness, she was mine to begin with. So, we can say I am just reclaiming what originally belonged to me” he said, sitting straight up.
