She didn't listen to me. This got me so frustrated, because it had been long since I had met someone as annoying as her. She towed the duvet to hips, pulling it off me completely. The scowls didn't resist my facial expression, my fingers locking in a hard fist.  "You know I can throw you off this bed?" I threatened.  She shrugged. The duvet settled on her chest, and she just shifted to the other side of the bed. She dunked into the soft foam, let out a sigh, and switched off the bedside lamp on the nightstand.  Okay, first, staying on the bed with her wasn't a good idea. What if something had to happen between us? And, second, since she had the guts to disagree with me, I would let her know that that wasn't something she should do very often.  I hopped from the bed, sauntering to the other side. Getting there, I switched the lamp on, glaring down at her. "Rae, do you not know your status in this house?" "What?" She sat straight, looking up at me. "You agreed to treat me with respect. Now that I want your bed, why can't I get it?" "Neither of us agreed to give you my bed," I clarified. She blinked like a confused pig, and sighed out loud. "You know what? I'm exhausted. I need to relax after having a long day. Please, let me sleep in peace." "Oh, really?" I raised my eyebrows. Uninterested in this conversation, I just bent down a little, and shoved her into my arms. She wasn't heavy, at all. "Sleep in peace on the couch. My bed is my baby." She gasped, her eyes jutted out of their sockets. "Don’t. You. Dare. Put me down, now! Put me down, you asshole! Ugh!" She cried.  Yes, I ignored her rant. I just ambled to the big couch by the corner of the room, gently dropping her on it. She had struggled to jump off my grip, but I hadn't let go. I nodded for no reason. "This is where you belong. Sleep here for tonight. Tomorrow morning, I'll ask the maids to create a room for you. It'll be a big and conducive room. You'll have everything you need in there, so you won't have to worry about anything, okay?" She glared. "Are you nuts? Why'd you make me sleep on the couch? Can't you be a gentleman? This doesn't make any sense!" "Tomorrow's gonna be a long day for me. Go to bed now. Thanks," I added before walking back to my bed.  Settling on the bed, I pulled the duvet over my body, and switched off the bedside lamp. The moment I closed my eyes, I felt Rae stand up from the couch. I chose to ignore her. It also seemed like she went into the bathroom to get something. It felt like she was fighting with the wash hand basin or something.  The slamming sound of the bathroom door was evidence that she stepped out of the bathroom. Her feet trudged toward my bed, which made me a bit nervous. Was she planning to get me killed?  Turning to her, just about to sit up, a mountain of water attacked my body. I flinched, frantically leaping from the bed. With bulged eyes, I turned to her. "Are you crazy?! You've ruined the bed!" I roared.  Her nostrils flared, and like the lunatic she was, she threw the bowl off her hand. "Yes, I'm crazy! If I don't sleep on that bed, no one sleeps on it. This is cheating. I don't appreciate it. You can't treat me like I'm not a human." Furious, I stomped to the other side of the bed, jerked her arm, and pulled her close. "Rae, do you realize that you're crossing the limits? It's been hours since we got married, but this is hell for me. Do you realize that this property is mine, so I've got the right to do anything I wanna do with it? Do you realize that I'm trying to be nice to you? I'm trying so much to conceal the hatred I think I feel for you? I'm in so much pain, but I'm being calm with you. I don't think you inflicted this agony on me, so I'm trying to not punish you for my downfalls ." Her eyes held some tears. It seemed like she was scared. "So?" That left her mouth in a whisper. She sounded weak. "So? Pain? Hatred? Sadness? Are those the emotions? Wow. Nice." "See, if you don't want this relationship to end up being even more terrifying than this, just stay in your lane. Don't cross the limits," I warned. She scorned. "Is this a threat?" "You came for my money. Being disrespectful won't make you enjoy the things you want to enjoy. For serenity to reign in this matrimony, please, act sensibly. Do what I need you to do, at the right time," I declared.  "You're filthy and toxic. But…" A curt laughter muffled from her throat. "You're right. I won't f**k this marriage up. I'll go with the flow." I squeezed my face, trying to understand what and who I was seeing. "What are you?" She looked away. "I'll sleep on the couch." Gently, she used her hand to pull mine off her arm. "Stay somewhere else. Ask one of your maids to stay by the door, in case it rains tonight. I'm scared of the rain. It's a reason I can't stay alone at night." "What?"  She nodded. "Don't bother to create another room for me. I'll sleep on the couch, henceforth. I'm glad it didn't rain last night, while I slept alone." "Don't get you," I marked out.  She turned sideways, and mumbled, "Goodnight. I apologize for ruining your bed." With that, she walked past me, and walked to the bed.  I just continued to stare at her. What had just happened? I had no idea about that.  Quite flustered, I grabbed my laptop and phone, heading to my study room. Staying here was something I couldn't think of doing. I was frustrated. About to step out, my phone beeped. It was a text from Jason, so I clicked on the notification.  "Hey bud, Something's up. Susan will be in town tomorrow. Damn, I'm freaking nervous. Do you think she's gonna be here for you?" I froze in my tracks. A morsel of saliva went down my throat, my breath abruptly feeling heavy. No. This couldn't be happening.  When? When was this torture going to end? It wasn't getting any better. Everything just kept coming back. The moment I crept out of one terror, another one just seemed to come so quickly. When would this end?  First, it was Tanya. The woman I loved had turned into a monster. Second, I got married to a stranger. She had erratic behavior that always got me confused. She was mysterious. And now, Susan, a woman from my past, was coming to town. There was no doubt that she was coming back to haunt me.  Water. That was what I needed right now.  I turned around, kept my laptop on the vanity table, and heaved out loud. I glanced at Rae, and sighed again when I heard her whimper. Now, she was crying? What type of person was she? Not very concerned, I still decided to amble over to the couch. She had her back on me, clutching to her duvet like a two year old. I stood behind her, my arms linked on my chest. I intended to speak to her, however, after noticing that she was literally asleep, I just stared down at her.  "I want them," she said from her sleep. She whimpered, shivered, and shook her head slowly. "No, no. Please, no. I-I just want them. I don't wanna go." Seeing her this way, it reminded me of my little self. This was something I used to experience when I was younger. For some reason, I felt even more disturbed.  Not hesitating further, I made my way out of the room. After all, there was nothing I could do to help her out.  I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, sat beside a high stool by the kitchen's counter, and propped my elbow on it.  Later, I would deal with Rae. I would find out what was going on with her. But first, I had to get rid of Susan. If anything or anyone was to ruin my life, not her. I wouldn't let her do anything to me.  I raced my fingers into my hair. Aggressively, I knocked my head against the counter, and shut my eyes.  Hopefully, this would pass. I would be fine someday.  ***
