CHAPTER 2

The first thing I felt when I woke up was softness

not normal softness, the kind that made me stay still for a second because my body genuinely forgot where I was ,the bed was huge too huge,the blanket felt expensive and the room smelt of fresh flowers and something I couldn't name

yesterday had been so exhausting

I was trying really hard not to think of where happened the night before

I groaned and pulled my blanket over my head, we are forgetting that happened

my phone lit up my friend name appearing on the screen

I looked around my. room, there's literally a sitting area inside my bed room

I stink I said pulling down the bedspread

someone knocked, a house staff members smiled politely

"miss breakfast is ready"

I didn't know what reply to give but she left before I could reply ,I usually eat breakfast around this time but I make them myself I wasn't used to this but I wasn't shocked

first I need to shower I can't be seen looking like this .

Downstairs looked bigger in the morning The dinning room looked expensive in a way that made me sit straight automatically

Richard sterling was already seated reading something rich people probably read in the morning,I don't usually read in the morning although I love reading novels especially romance novel, but I do listen to podcasts in the morning before my workout session , that counts right

the second he saw me he smiled warmly, there she is

that surprised me,I smiled back a little

Good morning, you slept well he asked his eyes fixed on his book

except for the unexpected discovery that your son apparently treats the living room like a private property

Cassian walked in black shirt cl, cold expression

like he personally disliked morning,he didn't look at anyone he sat down and poured himself a cup of coffee

Cassian drank his coffee it was really awkward not for them but for me ,do rich people not greet eachother

Richard looked at me , Scarlet I have something to talk to you about

I looked up what ,he smiled I spoke with your mum

something about that sentence scared me

he continued ,I checked your academic qualifications and your pasts job recommendations and it was too notch I would love for you to work at one of my company, you could gain more experience

I froze

Richard smiled I arranged an interview

he looked completely casual but this was a lot

my eyes widened a lot of people would kill for this kind of experience,so it would be foolish to refuse cause of anyone

There was really nothing to think about . I had no serious job at the moment and this was an opportunity if a lifetime

By evening the excitement from the wedding had disappeared v. my mum was somewhere downstairs probably in the study

I was standing I. the middle of my room which I still felt was big enough to be called an apartment vi looked at the half open boxes near the door . I should unpack instead I walked outside exploring sounded easier v

The house felt really warm . I passed hallways random rooms and one area that looked expensive enough to belong in a museum

Then I heard voices I turned Richard sterling sat in one of the living rooms

Cassian stood nearby

he was wearing his white work shirt with the sleeves folded halfway to his elbow . half of his buttons were undone and his hair slightly weird . he really was an attractive person

Cassian looked towards where I stood .I quickly shifted my gaze as I walked towards them

Richard looked at me and smiled warmly

How are you settling in

I shrugged

I think I'm still processing the fact that actual people live like this

Richard laughed

Cassian looked up briefly and looked away

Richard stood . I'm glad you came down , then looked at cassian show Scarlet around .he didn't even look up

Richard sighed

it's okay I don't need a tour guide

Richard looked disappointed then his phone rang

work he said walking towards the door

after Richard left it was just silence

Cassian looker at his phone . Iooked around then started walking. wrong way I turned

Cassian hadn't moved I frowned . what he look at me kitchen is left

who said I was going to the kitchen you looked at the hallway twice

I stared how did he even notice that . I crossed my arms you pay attention to people a lot .his eyes met mine

only when their doing something strange , he looked away then walked off

I decided to skip dinner since I had eaten an apple pie earlier and I was quite full . after checking on my mum in the study I decided to head back to my room

I got to my room . I still wasn't used to how silent the mansion became at night

The boxes were unpacked my clothes were arranged and I felt lighter

My phone buzzed

AVA....

right on time .

Scarlet.....

that sounds suspicious

Ava ....

tell me everything

Scarlet .... nothing to tell

Ava..... how do you casually tell me you're interviewing at sterling enterprise and disappear
