Chapter 8.
"Don't you think this is boring? Do we just have to wake up each day and stay in the house and do nothing? I mean, all we have to do is to serve that rude guy called the alpha.'
' I, in particular, Do not enjoy this at all and again, why can't we just go ahead and tell Hiro that he is our mate? If he rejects us, that would be fine. We just leave this place and go somewhere else. It is kind of boring here and it is giving me a headache.'
Ena complained to Amaya when they woke up the next day.
Amaya herself has been unable to sleep due to what happened the previous night at the dinner table.
The more she questioned, the fewer answers she got.
Who exactly was Hiro and why did his voice affect her so much last night?
The only voice she had been able to succumb to, was her father's, and that night, Hiro had to use the exact tone on her.
She didn't understand the mind link as well.
How was he able to speak to her through the mind link? And the funniest thing was that, after that incident, she tried to talk to him using the mind link but it didn't go on her side.
Yet, he was able to communicate with her using the mind link.
How was that even possible?
And right at that point, she didn't know if she should put her plans of seeking revenge to a standstill and try to find out what was happening between Hiro and her. Although this was not her mission, she couldn't help it.
The thing was messing with her head too much and she was gradually losing focus.
'I have told you time and time again that, if you are not okay with this, you should just stay calm and let me do my thing. I will have to fulfill this plan. I wouldn't have been here if Tobias hadn't killed my parents and my younger brother. The more I try to forget about it, the more I remember it, and the urge of me to wipe away this pack keeps increasing. If I had any superpowers, I would have just closed my eyes and wiped out everyone in this pack and left."
She grumbled back and made her way into the bathroom.
Ena didn't say anything and just watched as Amaya went on with her plans.

"Is there something I need to do before Kazumi or Alpha Kazumi wakes up from bed?"
Amaya asked when she got to the kitchen and met Dana already cooking breakfast.
Passing the spoon she was stirring the pot on the stove to her left hand, she fixed her gaze on Amaya standing at the door.
"Good morning to you too."
She greeted first, and Amaya lowered her head in embarrassment.
She didn't know greetings were important here. She hasn't been greeting anyone in the past years. When she was at the Nightfall pack, everyone just got up and went about with their activities.
"I'm sorry..."
"As for that, you don't have to worry. Alpha Kazumi left earlier this morning with Tobias and David."
Amaya made an o sound with her mouth as she walked further into the kitchen.
"If you don't mind me asking, where did they go?"
After spending about a day with Dana, Amaya could see through her
She was someone who would tell you information if you insisted on knowing. Yet, if you act quiet like you didn't want to know, she wouldn't say anything.
Noticing that she made it her mission to find out everything she needed to know from her, Dana closed the pot that was on the stove and faced her.
"I don't know why you are asking all this, still, I remembered telling you yesterday not to interfere with matters that do not concern you. You are here to work as a maid and not as an investigator."
Dana told her matter-of-factly.
"Come on, I'm just curious, you know. At least to know how things are going here, should in case of anything, I should be able to express myself or say something meaningful, if someone has to ask me."
She said immediately, trying to conceal the main reason why she was asking.
Dana shook her head.
"They left earlier for the Luminous Spring. Tobias received some information yesterday that there have been people trying to get close to the spring. So, they went there this morning to see how things are working."
Amaya slowly nodded her head.
That spring was the same spring for which Tobias had wiped out her family because he had heard from somewhere that her father was negotiating with another pack to get the spring.
The spring she had once heard was a life-saving spring. That spring. She needed to see it for herself.
"Okay then. No problem. I have heard of the spring too. It must be something important that other packs are fighting to get a hold of it."
" Important such that, some people claim that Alpha Tobias got his powers from that spring and all of that."
That reminded Amaya. One reason for her mission was to get the documents for that spring and that would eventually be the downfall of Tobias.
First, she needed to go to the spring and see what it looked like.
Since Kazumi wasn't there, Amaya took that moment as an opportunity to walk around the park.
The next thing she needed to do was to go to the maze and look for Tara, maybe she would be able to give her some information.
She made her way to the maze. It was already 11:00 a.m. and the sun was getting overhead.
The maze was filled with workers, pruning flowers and others picking the leaves on the floor.
She stood confused and lost as she didn't know which way to take as the maze had many entrances.
She couldn't even remember the route she had taken when she first came here.
She walked around and greeted a few pack members she saw working.
She tried helping them, by picking some red flowers and putting them in the big basket that was standing at each entrance.
She walked further to ask a guy she saw standing not far from her, with a rake in his hands, if she knew anyone by the name of Tara.
However, a voice behind her made her stop.
Why did that voice sound so familiar?
She questioned herself. She quickly spun around to see who the voice belonged to. The only person she could see was a boy with thick dark hair walking in front of her. It had been a long time, but she couldn't forget.
She stopped and at that point, only one name was ringing in her head.
With fear and surprise, she opened her mouth to call the name that was in her head even though she knew that was impossible. However, she wanted to try.
As she opened her mouth to speak, the boy took a right turn into one of the entrances of the maze, Amaya quickly regained herself.
That voice. She thought. Still, it could never be possible. It has been years, she told herself as she came back to reality.
Unable to find Tara, she made her way back to the pack house that was opposite the maze, although she didn't know where the road led
Still, she decided to take it and she went further, she saw a figure sitting at one corner of the dark corridor.
She could tell from afar who it was, given the way her body was reacting.
Hiro was positioned on a chair, his back pressed against the wall.
Although it was dark, his long white hair illuminated the area.
Why would someone have such long white hair? Amaya questioned as pushed herself towards him.
Although her mind was telling her not to get close, she couldn't resist. She took sluggish steps towards him.
" Hey," she called out gently.
Hiro lifted his head from the book he was reading and glared in her direction.
He held her gaze for a couple of seconds and returned to his book.
Amaya stood there without a single idea of what she should do or say to him.
"I was wondering if...well, I just wanted to know what happened to you...not exactly, I mean what happened last night? You mind-linked me, but I was unable to do the same." She rambled on and on, with her mind unable to form a complete sentence.
Without lifting his head from his book, he told her "If you have something to say to me, you should say it. If not, you should make a U-turn and leave my presence immediately."
If she thought Kazumi had a really bad way of talking to someone, then Hiro was the worst.
Having nothing to say or do, she withdrew herself and left.
She was still to understand what was happening here.
As she left, she took a turn that led toward the center of the pack house.
Her phone rang when she started moving.
She immediately pulled it out of her pocket.
It was Kenji who was calling.
With a frown, she answered the call.
" I have told you not to call me. You can only send a text message. You know how dangerous your call can be."
She responded to the phone so that no one could hear her.
" I'm sorry about that. I just needed some urgent information."
Amaya rolled her eyes and waited for him to say whatever it was.
"Have you been able to get any information about the Luminous Spring or the documents and all of that?"
"No, I haven't." She whispered into the phone.
"Who are you talking to?"
Amaya went still, when someone tapped her from behind, a dark voice sounding behind her.
