Chapter EighteenWhen my alarm rang at seven forty-five in the morning, I groaned, rolled over and covered my head with the pillow. I needed three or four more hours of sleep, and I begged whoever was listening to make the thing shut up. The evil device continued to beep and beep and beep with glee, uncaring it'd been after seven when I'd crawled into bed. And then my prayers were answered and the beeps just stopped. By the time I was dozing off, the beep started again. With a groan of despair only someone with a foot in la-la land could make, I pressed the pillow down until it got hard to breathe and had to ease up.
