The taxi drove down a familiar street, pulling up in front of the small apartment complex where Nathan’s mother lived. Evelyn was already waiting by the side of the road for him, dressed in a loose cardigan and worn jeans, her purse clutched tightly in her hands. She smiled when she saw him, waving at the car to stop in front of her. The driver unlocked the door and Nathan pushed the back door open and adjusted for his mother to come in. “Hi ma,” he greeted.
