Rosie sat across from her grandfather in the lounge, a small, elegant table between them. From their high vantage point, she could see the city stretching out below. They were at one of her grandfather’s sister companies—a refined plantation specializing in rare herbs and plants. It was his favorite place, one of his greatest accomplishments. The air smelled of aged whiskey and the faintest hint of expensive cigars, a scent that always accompanied Henry’s presence.
