The drive home was intensely awkward. The once plush leather interior now felt stiff and unwelcoming to Nathan, all because Rosie sat rigidly in the back, scrolling through her tablet. He peered at her though the rearview mirror. The distance between them was huge, like he was the designated driver and she was the businesswoman who wanted to get home early.
