The ride to the gala was long and empty. The only sound Nathan heard was the light breeze from outside that blew against the car windows. He considered lowering his side window to get that air in his face, but then again it would ruin Rosie’s magnificent hair and probably cause it to tangle in the breeze. The last thing he wanted was for her to freak out and contact her thousand stylists to come fix her up. She was quiet, and so was he. The soft hum of the car and the comfortable leather seats made it easy for Nathan to relax. He felt different; looked different.
