Brendon Shaun wore a puzzled and intrigued expression on his face. He ignored the insult Nathan had dished out to him and turned slightly, angling his body toward Aubrey as he stared at her.
“I didn’t realize you were already talking about me to your date,” he said teasingly, his eyes sweeping over her.
“This is my—” Aubrey paused, realizing that Brendon didn’t need to know who Nathan was, despite how captivating he looked. “We weren’t talking about you,” she retorted. “I was telling him your family tree is the worst. According to rumors, of course,” she added on a whim when Brendon’s nose twitched.
