“What’s this?” He pulled the file that was glued to his chest and scanned the first page with his eyes. “You uhm… purchased a building?” She laughed, low and exhausted. Rosie dropped onto the sofa and started to undo her heels. “You’re reading it wrong. The building my company purchased has been delayed, and its construction put on hold. I don’t know what the hell the delay is!” Her voice rose at the end, and she inhaled sharply, as if to remind herself to calm down.
