Chapter Eight–––––––– Although there were no more football games for a few months, work in the front office didn’t stop. Jo Parker took her suit jacket off and draped it on the back of her desk chair. Now that the season was over, her fiancé, Pete Sebastian, the coach, would amble in later, but she had plenty of work to do now. There were interviews to set up before the next season began and events to plan to support New Life. Lyle Barker, team owner, had okayed Jo’s plans to raise money for the local shelter for battered women and children. After the successful fundraisers last year, Jo had a challenging task to come up with bigger and better programs.
