They were falling. Noa’s body slammed into steel. His shoulder cracked against something cold and wet before gravity pulled him again, flipping him through smoke and pitch black. Rook’s scream was swallowed by the dark, and Ash Ash was laughing. The tunnel went on forever. Down and down, like the city had a throat that swallowed them whole. No lights. No air. Just the roar of machinery and the sharp whistle of something hot surging past his face. Then Crash. Noa hit first. Pain punched through his spine.
