Episode 13 - The Voice

2065 Words
The students quickly scattered around the Sparring Stadium forming their own little groups, teams or partners. Leo was going to make Maki have a spar with him but he was stopped by Flora. Flora offered herself to be Leo's training partner. Although Leo really wanted to have a little spar with Maki, Maki gave a nod and walked away. Leo: Next time, I promise we'll spar, okay? Maki: (faced Leo for a little while and continued) Yeah, I'll make sure to pummel you to the ground. Leo: Heh, we'll see. (left with Flora) Maki walked around the Sparring Stadium and saw Aerolith sitting alone on a corner, again. He approached her even though he was pushed away earlier. Maki: Hey. Alone again? Aerolith: Heh, obviously. I guess what happened earlier this morning really scared the away, huh? Maki: Nah, they're just cowards. I'm still here, right? Aerolith: (looks at Maki) And what can I do for you, then? Maki: Well I was wondering. You still haven't had your revenge on me, right? Aerolith: So? Maki: So, how about you do it now? Aerolith's eyes opened wide suddenly and stood up from Maki's suggestion. She didn't fester about it anymore because she already sent him flying many times. Who knows what's gotten into the Human's mind. Aerolith: Are you sure? Honestly, sending you to the sky many times over was already enough for me, you know? Maki: Really? Aerolith: Yep, really. Maki: Oh man. And I thought I could spend some time with you, too. Darn. Aerolith's face immediately became beet red upon hearing Maki's sentence. Her heart skipped beats many times that she thought she was gonna faint. Her ears were twitching like a dog feeling good from getting its head petted. She was speechless. No words can come out of her mouth and all she could when she tried to talk was opening and closing her mouth. With her emotions jumbled up, she couldn't of nothing else but to resort to her last move. Punching Maki again. But she stopped herself from doing that because it would be inappropriate if she punches him again without any valid reason. But Maki gave her that reason. Maki: Hmm? Your face suddenly became red. Are you okay? You didn't get a sudden fever again, have you? (touches Aerolith's forehead) Aerolith: N-N-N... Maki: N? What N? Aerolith: N-N-NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! (punches Maki again) Maki: Oh man. Not again. (raises his hand) Aerolith's punch made the Sparring Stadium shake a bit from its power. Aerolith was closing her eyes this times because she was embarrassed to look at Maki in the face. But this time, her punch felt like it hit a really thick wall. Thick enough to stop her powerful punch. She opened her eyes and looked at her front. She was surprised to see Maki still standing in front of her. But when she looked at her fist, the surprise look on her face took a turn and became confused. The guy that she always sent flying with her punch since yesterday has stopped her powerful punch with only one hand. What's more, he was able to stop it effortlessly. She withdraw her fist with a still confused look. Then she suddenly remembered that Maki was still at the Yellow - Orange Essence - First Stage. This recollection only added more to her confusement. She stepped back a little but she was now able to talk to Maki. Aerolith: H-How is this possible? Aren't you still at the Yellow - Orange Essence - First Stage? Maki: Well, I had a breakthrough earlier during Mr. Lavabo's class. I'm still at the Yellow - Orange Essence but I broke through the Fifth Stage Peak. I'm still weaker than you though. Aerolith: Weaker?! How is stopping my punch with one hand, weaker? Maki: Hey, you've gotten flustered too much. Look at my hand. Does it look fine to you? Aerolith: Yeah it looks fine to me. What the hell are you saying?! Maki: Oh, I was sure a bone or two got broken. Strange, huh? Hehehe Aerolith: Strange?! What do you mean, strange?! You know what, I'm going to punch you again and I'll make sure a bone or two will be broken. Maki: Good. Looks like you're back. Aerolith: Back? What do you mean, I'm back. I've always been here. Maki: Compared to your attitude yesterday and earlier and now, I'd say you're much more happy now. You haven't realized it yet but you look prettier when you smile. So you should smile more often. (smiles) Aerolith: Wha-What do you think you're saying?! (trying to hide her smile while blushing again) Mr. Yin saw Aerolith and Maki without doing anything. He approached them to tell them that they are still in class. As he got closer, he saw Aerolith blushing and he took it the wrong way. Mr. Yin: Hey both of you! We are still in class! How dare flirt during class hours! Aerolith: Huh? Eh? Sir, it's not what you think. Mr. Yin: Oh, talking back are we? Maki: Sir, I was just inviting her for a spar. You even said it earlier that our classmates were avoiding her because they misunderstood her incident this morning. I was just cheering her up. Mr. Yin: Then is she blushing then? Maki: Huh? Blushing? You were blushing? I thought you had fever. Aerolith: How the hell did you think I had fever, i***t? You haven't seen a girl blush before? Maki: Well, as a matter of fact, I have already seen a girl blush. Aerolith: Oh yeah? When was it. Maki: Well, you're blushing in front of me. Mr. Yin: Enough! If you want to spar, then spar! I'll be watching you. So start. Aerolith: Huh? But, sir! Mr. Yin: I said spar! This is a class, not a place where you can do anything you want. Now spar! Aerolith: This is all your fault! (looks at Maki furiously) Maki: Hey, I said I wanted to spar. It was you who didn't want to do it despite being in class. Aerolith got angry at Maki and has fully decided to wreck him up. She released her a yellow colored aura that indicated that she's a Yellow Essence now and was getting ready to attack him. Maki got into an awkward stance which meant that he did not have any combat experience. Seeing Maki's stance made her think that this spar's winner will be her. But Mr. Yin had a nostalgic feeling about Maki's stance. He felt that he seemed to have seen this stance somewhere but he can't just remember it. Maki's weird stance was, left foot slightly forward, right foot at the same place but slightly bent, left hand had an open palm that stretched slightly forward and the right hand hand was half the distance of the his left hand with also an open palm. Mr. Yin didn't bother about his thought for now and said, "start!". Aerolith then dashed forward as fast as she could while Maki was still in his weird stance. Aerolith thought that Maki was wide open and went out for a left hook to Maki's face. Maki parried Aerolith's attack using his stretched out left arm, drastically changing Aerolith's punch to her right exposing her left side for his counter. Maki then punched the opening he made and forced the air inside Aerolith's body out, sending her a few meters away from. This simple counterattack left Aerolith gasping for air while having to feel the pain of getting her ribs punched hard. Mr. Yin was astounded by Maki's move. So simple, yet decisive. Maki's stance really felt familiar for Mr. Yin and decided to research about it later. Mr. Yin then announced... Mr. Yin: Marvelous! A simple, yet decisive blow. Where did you learn that move, Mr. Montaire? Maki: I'm sorry, Mr. Yin. I was told not to discuss this with anyone. Mr. Yin: Well that's a little disappointing but still very well done. If this was an official spar, you would have earned a merit. Maki: It's okay, Mr. Yin. I'm still weak so I'll need to train more. Excuse me, I have to check on her. Mr. Yin: Okay, I'll come with you. Mr. Yin and Maki approached Aerolith. They saw Aerolith slowly standing up while still panting. It was quite obvious that her brain still doesn't have enough supply of oxygen because of how she was walking from side to side. She was about to fall down again but Maki was able to support her in time. Maki: So, how are you feeling now? Aerolith: I felt worse earlier. Ugh! Damnit! you (pant) got me (pant) good. Maki: Believe it or not, the move I used earlier was from a TV show from my childhood. Aerolith: Yep. I don't believe it. Ugh! (pants) Maki: Rest here for a while. (outs down Aerolith in a corner to lean her back on) Mr. Yin: Well, Ms. Aerolith. How was your first experience of feeling half dead? I was readying myself in case you couldn't recover your breathing in time before your body gives out due to lack of oxygen. Aerolith: Well, the feeling of suffocating from my father's aura when he's angry is worse but this kind of pain is a first for me. I think my a rib or two cracked. Mr. Yin: Well, you should be fine with that much only. And Maki. Maki: Sir? Mr. Yin: Accompany Ms. Aerolith for now while I go check on the others. Maki: Yes, sir. Thank you for watching over our spar. Mr. Yin: Good. I'll be going then. Mr. Yin left the two of them to go watch over the others. The atmosphere was as quiet as night without insect cries that could be heard in the background. Maki also leaned against the wall and closed his eyes trying to relax his mind. As Maki was trying to relax his mind, he heard an unfamiliar voice of a woman. The woman's voice had a relaxing tone into it that every time he hears her, he seems to recover his energy fast. Later, the woman's voice grew louder and clearer. The moment the woman's voice was clear heard by him, he immediately woke up and was sweating heavily. Aerolith: What's wrong? You looked like you had a bad dream. Maki: Oh, it's nothing. Anyway, how long was a resting? Aerolith: Class is almost over. Look. Everyone is starting to gather. Let's go too. Maki: That much time already passed? How is your body? Can you walk by your own now? Aerolith: Yep. For some reason, while you were sleeping- Maki: Resting. Aerolith: Right. (giving an unconvinced face) Resting. Your body enveloped by a weird aura that seemed felt familiar to me, even though it was the first time I felt it. But, when I was trying to recover, part of the aura enveloping you was somehow absorbed by me and my recovery speed became fast. Even my cracked ribs was healed. And I was also able to breakthrough and is now in the Yellow Essence - First Stage Peak. I made two breakthroughs today, can you believe it? (happily smiling) Maki: Well, good for you then. Although I've recovered, I'm having a headache for some reason. Was it because of the voice? Aerolith: Voice? What voice? Maki: Oh, uhh... It's nothing. Don't mind it. I guess it was just my imagination. Aerolith: Are you sure you're okay? Maki: I'm a hundred percent sure. I should be asking you that Ms. One Hit Knocked Out. Aerolith: Arrrg! I'm definitely getting my revenge next time. Maki: Good luck with that. Mr. Yin: Ah, there you are. And it seems you're fine now, Ms. Aerolith. Aerolith: Yeah. I guess my recovery is faster than I thought. I feel refreshed, actually. Mr. Yin: Good to hear it then. How about you, Mr. Montaire? You seem a more tired than earlier. Maki: I just got a sudden headache, sir. But I'm sure this will go away with a little bit of more rest. Mr. Yin: Well, if you say so. You can go to the Infirmary later if you want. It's lunchbreak now anyway. Go line up with your classmates now. I still have something to say. Maki and Aerolith: Yes, sir. (mixes in with their classmates) Episode End.
