Episode 9 - Meet the Students

At the instruction of Mr. Lavabo, the students formed three five-man lines. The students introduced themselves one by one starting from their names, Essence, and wielded Magics respectively. After the student's self introduction, Mr. Lavabo gave the respective training immediately, as if he's already known what to do with the student's status.

Student #1: Helena Sparks, Orange Essence - Third Stage, Lightning Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: What's the strong point of your Lightning Magic?

Sparks: Speed, Area of Effect Debuffs, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Good. You need to at least know what you are good at so that you will know your shortcomings. Okay, go to the one hundred kilometer lap field. Run a hundred laps in thirty minutes.

Sparks: Wait, what?! I couldn't even run half of that, sir! 

Mr. Lavabo: Well, you will need the endurance in the future, trust me. If you won't run, then I have many more fun things in store, not just for you, but also to those who don't follow instructions. Are we clear? Now, go! Don't make me repeat myself! Next!

Student #2: Flora Fairwink, Orange - Yellow Essence - Fifth Stage Peak, Plant Magic.

Mr. Lavabo: What's Race are your parents? You're too small to be a Pure Blood.

Flora: Me mom's a Nymph and me dad's an Elf. I'm Fairy.

Mr. Lavabo: Aren't fairies supposed to be tall and...- (dodges a root that suddenly sprouted from the ground)

Flora: DON'T CALL ME THAT!

Mr. Lavabo: You do know I'm your teacher, right? Well at least I know that for a small creature, you have a huge temper issue. But since I'm your teacher, it's my job to discipline you students accordingly. So, brace yourself little fella. (smiles wickedly) Ahem. See that barren sandy place over there? That place is covered by a magic barrier that amplifies the sun's energy to simulate a realistic dessert. Your training and punishment will be to make this seed sprout with your magic.

Flora: What?! Ya gotta be kidding me, right?! Ain't no way I'm bustin' my skin fer dis wee little seed here. And are ya sure this is a seed? This feels like a rock!

Mr. Lavabo: That ain't my problem, laddie. Unless ya wanna be expelled at ya first day of school for not following the teacher's lesson? I wonder how yer parent's will react. (mimics Flora's accent with a mocking tone)

Flora: Ugh! Fine! I'll do it. Ya happy now?

Mr. Lavabo: Not until you make that thing grow. Now, go. Next!

Student #3: Hugo Stoneskin, Orange - Red Essence - Fifth Stage Peak, Rubble Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Good. A defense type Magic. Go that mountain course over there. Your training will be to pinpoint the stone in the middle of the tallest mountain and extract it. 

Hugo: Bu-

Mr. Lavabo: If I hear one more compaint coming out from all of your mouths, I'll slap all of your petty egos out to oblivion. Everybody got that?

Everyone: Yes, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Good! now, next!

Student #4: Murloc Shadowcrawler, Orange Essence - Third Stage, Dark Magic.

Mr. Lavabo: Hmm. Assassination type Magic. Go to the woodland course. Practice your control over your legs by jumping all of the trees. But not a leaf a should fall down. Next!

Student #5: Yuki Onna, Orange - Yellow Essence - Fifth Stage, Ice Magic.

Mr. Lavabo: A personality that resembles of the owner's magic. Ok. Go to the place where Ms. Flora went. Your task will be stay in there and do your best not to sweat. Next!

Student #6: Leo Lionheart, Orange - Red Essence - First Stage, Beast Magic, sir! (stands in full stiff attention)

Mr. Lavabo: I wasn't expecting one of the rare Magics to appear here in your batch in my class. Hmmm. Since I'm sure you're a strength type, go to the place where Mr. Hugo went. Your training will be to crush palm sized rubbles without disturbing Mr. Hugo's concentration. Meaning, crush them as quietly as possible. You will also be at most four meters away from Mr. Hugo. And don't forget to explain to him your training to prevent any misunderstandings. Next!

Student #7: Lumia Licht, Orange Essence - Fifth Stage Peak, Light Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: An Angel with Light Magic. Are you a speed type? 

Licht: No, sir. I'm an offensive support type.

Mr. Lavabo: Well, speed type light magic users are already scarce as it is. (sigh) My expectations got to me, sorry. Anyway, offensive support, eh? Hmmm. Can you explain to me your Special Move?

Licht: Yes, sir. My Special Move is called Brilliant Shield. This shield can only protect me but it can reflect enemy projectiles, as long as my Essence color is one color ahead of them.

Mr. Lavabo: Well, what do you know? You have quite a strong defensive offensive ability there. Ok, take a seat and wait. I'll try gonna find a practice partner for you among your classmates. If not then I'll think of something later. Next!

Student #8: Selene Seener, Yellow - Orange Essence - Fourth Stage, Psychic Magic, sir!

The remaining students were shocked because they didn't think that she was stronger than Aerolith before Aerolith made her breakthrough. Mr. Lavabo also didn't expect someone strong mixed within the new batch.

Mr. Lavabo: Ahem. Well, that certainly caught us by surprise, huh? Anyway, a Psychic Magic user, eh? Hmm. Since you're already this strong, go to the barren area for now. Your training well also be like Ms. Onna. Prevent yourself from sweating. Next!

Student #9: Lason Uburozi, Orange - Yellow Essence - Second Stage Peak, Poison Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Good! Wait for a sec. (signals on Licht to come back)

Licht: What is it, sir? You found a partner for me?

Mr. Lavabo: As a matter of fact, I do. Mr. Uburozi here is a Poison Magic user. He will be a perfect training partner for your shield durability. Mr. Uburozi, can you explain to us your Special Move?

Uburozi: Yes, sir! My Special Move is called Corrosive Skin. Anything I touch corrodes. But I can't corrode those that are stronger than my current limit. My current limit for now is someone who is in the Yellow - Orange Essence - Second Stage Peak, sir.

Mr. Lavabo: Wow! It's like you both were made to be lifelong training partners. (chuckles) Sorry about that. Okay, Mr. Uburozi's training will be to maintain your Corrosive Skin move while corroding Mr. Licht's shield. Mr. Licht's training will be to maintain his shield while withstanding Mr. Uburozi's Corrosive Skin. Understood? Now go to the woodland course and find a safe place to train. Be careful not to melt anything that would cause a fire. Next!

Student #10: Maki Montaire, Yellow - Orange Essence - First Stage Peak, Non Elemental Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Wait. What?! Does Ms. Swanna know of this?

Maki: Yes, sir. But she didn't act surprised as you did. Is there something wrong with my Magic, sir?

Mr. Lavabo: Wait here. I'll call Ms. Swanna to come over. 

Mr. Lavabo excused himself from the quadrangular court for about three minutes and returned with a blank looking face.

Maki: Uhh? S-Sir? Everything alright?

Mr. Lavabo: Huh? Oh, uhh, yeah. Everything. Ahem. Everything's fine.

Maki: You don't seem fine to me, sir.

Mr. Lavabo: Ugh! (takes a deep breathe) Your training for now will also be to go to the barren course and try your best not to sweat. Next!

Maki: But, si-

Mr. Lavabo: I already told you earlier, no buts! (unable to control his emotions and let out a small heat wave)

Maki: Sorry, sir. I'll be going.

Mr. Lavabo: Next!

Student #11: Le-Leeroy Se-Selfie. O-Orange - Red E-Essence - Fi-Fifth Stage Pe-Peak. Su-Support Mag-ic, sir. (speaking nervously)

Mr. Lavabo: Why are you scared? Do you think this world have time to sympathize with your feelings and wait till you're okay? One more time! And be more confident!

Selfie: (takes a deep breathe) Leeroy Selfie, Orange - Red Essence - Fifth Stage Peak, Support Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: That's more like it. Wasn't that hard, wasn't it? Support Magic is composed of many types of support abilities. Explain to me your Special Move.

Selfie: My Special Move is called Drain Touch. It lets me drain the energy of the one I touch and restore my own or transfer it to another through physical contact.

Mr. Lavabo: You're in luck. You can be the third person on Mr. Uburozi and Mr. Licht's training. Can you use Drain Touch with one hand doing the drain and the other doing the restoration process?

Selfie: I can't yet, sir.

Mr. Lavabo: Well, I guess you can practice that first for now. Go and find Mr. Uburozi and Mr. Licht in the woodland course. Explain to them about your training. Next!

Student #12: Aira Zhen, Yellow - Orange Essence - First Stage, Slayer Magic, sir!

The remaining three students were shocked again because the didn't think that Aira Zhen would also be so strong. Mr. Lavabo was able to contain his surprised reaction this time.

Mr. Lavabo: Another rare Magic? And already at Yellow - Orange Essence? Hmm. Looks like this class will be fun to teach. Tell me your Special Move.

Zhen: My Special Move is called Dual Wield. It lets me use two different kinds of weapon at the same time.

Mr. Lavabo: Would you look at that. A unique move on top of a rare kind of Magic. Try to punch my palm as hard as you can. I'll be gauging your strength.

Zhen: Understood. 

Aira Zhen released an intense yellowish orange aura that proved that she really was a Yellow - Orange Essence. But the color is still diluted because she's still in the First Stage. When Aira Zhen finished her power up, she punched Mr. Lavabo's palm. The strength of the punch was enough to cause a little shock wave that toppled the remaining three students. But Mr. Lavabo was left unscathed.

Zhen: (pants) How. was. it. Mr. Lavabo?

Mr. Lavabo: That full power punch left you this tired? Looks like you need to work on your endurance first. Go to the one hundred kilometer field and run a hundred lap like Ms. Sparks. Go immediately. Next!

Student #13: (stood up hurriedly after hearing the word 'next') Raula Humming, Orange Essence - Second Stage, Sound Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Let me guess, you're also not a speed type.

Humming: Yes, sir. (T-T)

Mr. Lavabo: Well, nothing we can do about that. What's your Special Move?

Humming: My Special Move is called Careless Whisper, sir. As long as I can whisper on my opponent's ear, they will get uncontrollable careless. I'm thinking this is most useful when we want to extract some information from our enemies. But...

Mr. Lavabo: The disadvantage is too obvious, huh. What's your current limit for this move's effect?

Humming: If the opponent is in the same Essence and Stage as me, fifty point one percent of success rate and if succeeds, ten minutes at most. The enemy could snap out of this effect much earlier depending on his/her will power.  Mr. Lavabo: You just had to add that point one percent to make it more convincing. (facepalm) Okay. Your training for now will be to increase your overall stats so do a hundred push ups, a hundred sit ups, a hundred curl ups and ten laps on the one hundred kilometer field. Next!

Student #14: Aera Aerolith, advanced to the Yellow Essence - First Stage earlier, Wind Magic, sir!

Mr. Lavabo: Ah, the explosion girl. How are you holding up?

Aerolith: I've fully recovered, sir. Thank you for the concern. My Special Move is called Wind Blade. I can make a blade made of wind anywhere on my body.

Mr. Lavabo: Very good. I know just the perfect training for you. You will train your Wind Blade to become a long ranged move. That way, you can fight either from long range or melee combat. Go to the mountain course and try to slice some boulders five meters away for now. Next!

Student #15: Silva Silverlining, Yellow- Green Essence - Second Stage Peak, Healing Magic, sir!

Hearing the final student her Essence shocked Mr. Lavabo so much that his jaw dropped. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. This was the first time he saw a new student that was already at the Yellow - Green Essence. He even thought that she must be this generation's top genius. Shortly, Mr. Lavabo remembered that Ms. Silverlining was also a Healing Magic user. Healing Magic is one of the rarest magic in the world. Anyone who had at least some healing abilities are the most sought for. And to think that a starting student who is already a Yellow - Green Essence would also possess the unique Healing Magic. Mr. Lavabo didn't know what to say but he knew he had to at least say something.

Mr. Lavabo: Wow. Well, you're certainly one of the greatest shock that happened to me today. May I know your Special Move?

Silverlining: My Special Move is called Slap Shock, sir. If my ally is trapped in an illusion, I can slap them back to reality. Or I can slap poison or any foreign object out of anyone's body. But my limit is I can only do it thrice per day and the one responsible for the act should not be more powerful than me.

Mr. Lavabo: Wow. That's actually more like a cheat rather than a Special Move. Okay, I have an idea about your training, now. Run one hundred laps on the one hundred kilometer field. You may be the wielder of that unique Magic, but you need stamina and endurance to avoid sudden exhaustion. Now, go!
