Episode 5 - Start of Class

Tomorrow came without Maki knowing that his mother cried yesterday. He woke up, washed his face and went downstairs for breakfast.

Maki: Morning, mom! Wow, sausage egg sandwich, my favorite! Thank you for the food!

Mom: Hey now! Eat slowly! If you keep eating like that, you'll -

Maki: (choking and desperately reaching for the chocolate milk at the right side of his plate)

Mom: You never learn, do you? (sigh, facepalm)

Maki: (successfully drunk the chocolate milk and let out a breath of relief) That's better. For a second there, I thought my reason of death would be choked by a big, long, fat sausage. That would've been so embarrassing. Whew!

Mom: Really? I guess I'll take note of that when that happens.

Maki: No! Why would you do that?! I was just kidding.

Mom: I know you're a kid. But not me. (smirks)

Maki: Err...(sighs) Fine, you win. Well, I'll be going to school now, mom. (hugs and kisses mom on the cheeks) Bye, mom! See you later! (runs off)

Mom: Have a nice day at school! Oh darling, I hope our baby boy will grow into a fine man. Wouldn't you agree? (looking at a framed picture on a mini table beside a flower vase, tears starting to drip) Oh my, it would be quite a problem if he sees his mother crying without any reason. (wipes of the tears) I hope he will understand when I tell him in the future. 

Maki, on his way to school, walked slowly this time as to prevent the same incident from happening again. Though that is what he's thinking, the people around him were disturbed by the face he was making. He looked like an old man getting aroused for the first time in years after having his erectile dysfunction. Maki snapped out of his delusion when he saw the crossroad where the "molesting" incident happened. He looked at the street to see if he would see the Elf today but it seems he was mistaken. He was kind of disappointed because he was somewhat excited to go to school together with her, for some reason. He continued the rest of the way alone until he arrived at the university. The guard at the gate greeted Maki.

Guard: Hey, Mr. Meteor! No crashing today eh? Too bad, I was ready to film your moment as a falling star.

Maki: Oh, it's the Safeguard. 

Guard: I already said it yesterday that I'm not a damn soap! (sigh) Kids this days. Anyway, you seem a little bit gloomy today. Are you sad the Elf transferee did not give you service today by sending you via Air Express again? (chuckles)

Maki: Haha, very funny. Well some part of it were right though. Did you happen to see her today?

Guard: Yep. She's already in school. That Elf must be filthy rich. She came here riding a Unicorn. Do you know how much Unicorns costs nowadays? A pony would already cost five million dorral (dollar in real life). But the unicorn she rode was somewhat special because it had wings. I've never seen a unicorn with wings.

Maki: You mean, you haven't seen a Pegasus yet? 

A pegasus is a horse that has wings but it has no horns.

Guard: I know what a pegasus looks like, you brat. That's why I said it was somewhat special because a pegasi don't have horns. They only have wings. But what she brought here was a unicorn that had wings. You seen one of those? Of course not. You're just a meteor. A meteor falling because he tried to fly to see his goddess only to end up crashing on the ground because he thought he could without wings.

Maki: (getting annoyed) You know? I could let you experience what it feels being a meteor.

Guard: No thanks. As you can see, I'm on duty. So go on inside already before a close the gate on you, you brat. And it should be anytime now. In five, four, three, two-

Maki suddenly disappeared from his line of vision, as if he had vanished to thin air, without leaving any trace. 

Guard: Damn. That kid is really strange. Stranger than that winged unicorn. 

A few seconds later, the guard noticed that his forehead was somewhat getting hot. He looked at the mirror only to see that the word "safeguard" was written on his forehead.

Guard: Damn you brat! I'll get you for thiiiiiiiiis!!!!!

Maki went to the Teacher's Office first because he still does not know his classroom. Due to the incident yesterday, nothing was explained to him. Maki arrived at the door of the Teacher's Office but the door suddenly opened. He and Aerolith bumped into each other, again, and they both fell down.

Maki: Oh man! What is up with this situation! Wait. This familiar feeling. (squeezes a little bit) This familiar softness. (squeezes a little bit more) This is---!!!

Aerolith: YOUUUUU PEEEEERVEEEEERT!!!!!!!!! (punches Maki's face sending him flying, again)

Maki: AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! (sparkles in the sky)

Ms. Swanna: Oh. So that's what happened.

Male Teachers: Damn! lucky! Bastard!

Female Teachers: Really?

Male Teachers: (hysterically leaves the office within two seconds)

Ms. Swanna: (sigh) Men will always be men. Are you fine now, Ms. Aerolith?

Aerolith: What do you think? Of course not! (some tears gathering at the side of her eyes) I still haven't had my revenge yesterday! And this happened again! I'm gonna kill him!!!!

Ms. Swanna: Now, now. Please calm down for a second. Classes starts now so we'll get back to that later. Let's go. (walking towards the classroom)

Aerolith stood up, wiped away the little tear in her eyes, and followed her teacher to the classroom.

Ms. Swanna: Okay, everyone. Settle down. Go back to your seats now. Class will start. But before that, we have two transferees today. Come on in Ms. Aerolith. Face the class and introduce yourself.

As Aerolith opened the door and walked inside, both male and female students were stunned by her beauty. Some Beastmen with wolven and canine features even drooled. This was not the first time they saw Elf because they already saw her yesterday at the Sparring Stadium. But seeing the beautiful Elf up close really makes a difference than seeing from afar. Ms. Swanna was getting annoyed by the students reaction because no matter what she says to the class to calm down, they did not listen to her. As she was about to release a little bit of her cold powers to cool down the students, Aerolith let out her Airpowder. Aerolith's Airpowder uses the wind to scatter some kind of powder on a certain area and cause all kinds of debilitating effects according to her command. This time, the Airpowder had the effect of calmness. The students calmed down except for one person at the far back sitting beside the window. He sneezed like crazy as if he had pollen allergy. All the students were surprised because they do not know this student is. Ms. Swanna and Aerolith were also equally surprised, despite recognizing the student. The student sneezing crazily at the back was none other than Maki. Both, Ms. Swanna and Aerolith, were sure that Maki was sent flying just a few minutes ago. But now, he was at the back of the class sneezing. Nobody even knows how he got inside. More so, without raising anybody's suspicion. What surprised Aerolith even more was the fact that her Airpowder had no effect on him. Aerolith was about to speak but Ms. Swanna was able to talk first.

Ms. Swanna: Like I said earlier. We have two transferees today. Mr. Montaire, come up front and also introduce yourself. But Ms. Aerolith will go first.

Maki: Yes, ma'am. But can you remove this powder first? At this rate, I'm gonna finish the day sneezing.

Ms. Swanna: Well, everyone seems to have calmed down now. Would you please cancel this Special Skill, Ms Aerolith? 

Aerolith: Understood. (cancels the Airpowder)

Maki: Now that feels much, much better. I can breathe fine now. (already beside Aerolith)

Everybody was shocked because Maki was already beside Aerolith. Nobody saw him move from his spot. Even Ms. Swanna did not detect any subtle movement. It's as if he had teleported, when Aerolith was cancelling her Airpowder. But cancelling the Airpowder only took three seconds. And Maki was way at the back of the classroom. Maki noticed everyone's reaction and tried to avert their attention to Ms. Aerolith.

Maki: Ahem. Ms. Aerolith? You could start anytime now. Time's ticking.

Aerolith: Oh? Y-Yeah, right. Ahem. Good day everyone! I'm Aera Aerolith. A Yellow-Orange Essence - Second Stage, Wind Element user. Pleased to meet you all. (bows 45 degrees)

Maki: Maki Montaire. Yellow-Orange Essence - First Stage Peak, uhh...Non-Elemental User. That's all. (bows slightly)

Everyone was surprised that Maki was only a little bit behind from Aerolith. But, Maki only said this because it was what was written on his application form when he enrolled. Normally, the last process of enrollment would be testing the color of your Essence and Stage. But Maki was exempted from this test because he was recommended by Mr. Aerolith, Aera Aerolith's father, personally. 

While everyone was still surprised, Ms. Swanna snapped them all back to reality by clapping her hands.

Ms. Swanna: Alright. Now, both of you take the two empty seats prepared for you. Without further ado, I'll start the discussion. Everyone, as you all know, we have something called Essences. Each person has only one Essence. Our Essence is located at our Lower Dan Tian. Our body has three types of Dan Tian. The Upper, Middle and Lower Dan Tians. The Upper Dan Tian is located on our foreheads. This influences our brain activity and also the source of our Special Skill. Since our Special Skill is influenced by brain activity, all of our Special Moves don't require our physical bodies to move. We call this Source, Mental Force. Mental Force can be improved by cultivating the mind through Meditation Techniques. You can get these techniques by exchanging your earned merits. Merits can be earned by winning from the Sparring Stadium. But don't worry, if you can't win in the Sparring Stadium, you can choose to pick a quest from the bulletin board beside the Teacher's Office. But be warned, quests come in different danger levels ranging from G ,the safest, to S ,the most dangerous. Most students pick quests because they give huge amount of merits based on their danger levels but the higher the danger level, the higher the chance of getting killed on the field. Next, is the Middle Dan Tian. The Middle Dan Tian influences our Special Move and is located on our middle chest area. Meaning, our Special Move requires us to move our bodies. Unlike Mental Force, our Special Move uses Muscle Power as a Source. Muscle Power can be improved through Muscle Trainings or Exercises. Like the Meditation Techniques, you can exchange these Muscle Trainings or Exercises through merits. But remember, the higher the technique or exercise, the more expensive it becomes. Last is the Lower Dan Tian. Which I said earlier, this is where our Essence is located. We only have one Essence each and can be cultivated. Cultivating our Essence is the most difficult part to cultivate as it requires absolute balance from the Upper and Middle Dan Tians. Our Essence's strength is determined by their color. Starting from Pink to Gold. But according to legend, God's Essence was rumored to be Platinum colored. But it's only a legend so it's hard to prove this. Anyway, our Essences will improve by itself until eighteen years old and then requires cultivation at the start of a Race's nineteenth year. Which is now. From baby to eighteen years old, our Essence will start from Pink to Orange Red. But in some rare cases, it would improve even further like our two transferees. Although we already have our Essences from birth. We can't use it yet because our body can't handle the burden it would take. That's why we need to cultivate our Upper and Middle Dan Tians to their limits first before attempting to advance our Essences. Our Essences also has five stages from First Stage to Fifth Stage Peak, with a total of ten stages. A normal Race have their own lifespan but with cultivation, we can prolong this lifespan. Every advancement in color of our Essence extends our lifespan by at most five hundred years depending on your luck. Please take note that hurrying the advancement of your Essence will lead to serious injury, cultivation loss or, worst case scenario, death. Advancing in Essence color also requires many preparations since we are going against nature for extending our lifespan set by God. This is called Tribulation Ascension. The Tribulation Ascension depends on what Element you are able to use and the more Elements you are able to use, the harder it will be to resist. That's all. Any questions?

Maki was about to raise his hand but the bell rang. Ending the class.

Ms. Swanna: Ok, class dismissed. Your next class will be about training your Upper Dan Tian, so please proceed to the Meditation Hall. (leaves the room)
