" Come over to my office! "
The familiar voice ordered from the other side of the call.
" Al..right si…rr, the call ended not waiting for the last response.
" What could have happened again", her thoughts shattered, as she headed immediately to his office,
Her sudden move got everyone amazed and the atmosphere in the room tensed
" I don't think she can last, these days, one said
" With this her state, I doubt she can, " another replied.
Back to Alex's office, Alex had just received a call from his secretary that his grandpa had just been rushed to the hospital,
" You need to come over, the old man wants to see you", Nathan said over the phone
she stood at the door when she entered, expecting him to rant from a distance,
" There's an emergency, I can't go through these documents like this, just sort them now and send the soft copy to me through my Secretary".
" Emergency, which emergency and Now?" And by now, did he mean I have to go through these and sort them out again now? Can't he check the time?"
" Come with me, he will forward where you will send it to you over the phone ", he concluded.
Come…co..me , where?, he stood from his seat neglecting her questions.
The sudden stand brought her attention to him, as she packed the documents from his desk and followed him out of his office, stocking in her head with thoughts,
" Why is life being unfair to me? Did I offend someone in my past life? And Is this how I am going to live now?"
The silence in the car was loud to deafening as they both reached the hospital. She was dumbfounded seeing the emergency place they are coming to is hospital.
As she managed to come down from the car, some documents she was holding down fell to the floor of the front seat.
" Be careful," he said as he stretched his hands to help her. Sarah felt a cooling breeze over her as his hands brushed through hers.
As she managed to look up , she saw a familiar figure approaching Nathan, his personal assistant as he continued pressing something from his phone.
" So, this is why he rushed out ?"
" What could that emergency be, maybe his boss' wife or girlfriend?"
" He is waiting for you, will you be okay?," Nathan asked, worrying for him, he has been working with Alex for years now and he knows how he how worried he is about his grandpa even though he always hide it and always have quarrel with me
" I should be, I have nothing to fear, in as much as he is alive ",he replied as he headed into his ward.
" Wait here with her", he said as he made his way inside.
Entering the VIP room occupied with two busy nurses and his doctor ,
" You are here ", Mr Rogers, the family doctor spake as the nurses departed he room,
Uh..I am , welldone doc, what's the update, he asked looking less at his grandpa.
Nothing much, it's still under control, in as much he will not go through the trigger again.
" Don't think I will give those companies to you without a wife before I die, " his grandpa spoke out softly but the tension filled the room.
" You must…he paused as the sound from the door distracted him
The door opened, as Lisa rushed through ,
grand…pa, she paused as she glanced a wicked look at Alex,
You caused this you know, she said as she eyed him from the corner of her eyes.
" And who is that lady you came with? I saw a lady coming out from your car in the parking lot. Don't even deny this because I already snapped you two together".
Everyone paused and looked at him, Alex they know is not the type that will tag a woman along.
" Grandpa, I saw a lady with him, that's a good sign right?"
" Argh…argh…a lady? he coughed and continue
" Alex…you must bring a wife , it's time you let go…"
" It's you that is rushing, I never say I will not marry, " he muttered quietly but his words were not unheard by his impatient grandpa and sister.
" Rushing, after how many years now, Lisa helped me calculate, how many years now? Bring a woman home, bring her home! It's my birthday on Sunday, bring that lady home!, he replied furiously.
Then he realized the gravity of the words he just said, and he knows his family, they will not let him or the lady rest ever hearing that.
" The doctor said you need more rest, so save your energy," he said looking into his grandpa's eyes, indifferently, as he left the room.
In the parking, Sarah was looking like Nathan, with all sort of questions in her mind
" I wondered how he has been copying with him, having such a cold boss that can be alarming, hmmm… I pity him".
" How long have you been working for him," she finally spoke out of her curiosity.
Nathan looked at her impassive with no response
" Oh, what am I even expecting? You become who you fellowship with, he is already like his boss. Anyways, if he can survive up till now, I think I can do '', she continued lingering in her thoughts.
" OH!!!, I actually came here for this, I need to organize this document and then send it as a soft copy, Mr. Alex already said you will send a link where I can send the soft copy to ".
" Oh, I see , wait a minute" , Nathan replied.
" Let's go, Alex suddenly spoke from behind.
" Okay sir, Nathan said
" But what about the link sirr…, Sarah cut in
" I will send that to you right now, " Nathan replied.
The car was more quiet with thoughts than when they were coming, the only difference is that Nathan is present driving the two.
" Why then did he now bring me there , if I will still have to do this alone " she got confused, she thought actually followed for a purpose, then she left without doing anything.
" I should have just stayed in the office ", she thought.
" How best can I silence this man this time, he will never let me rest, especially…
Alex paused, stare at Sarah, this time, their eyes interlocked, then continue is brooding.
" YES!!!, that's it" , he finally concluded.
