I responded that most people who go to church are hypocrites and I reject organized religion’s concept of God.
He stiffened saying, “Have you revisited it recently?”
No, not really was my comeback after a moment of reflection.
He seemed encouraged by my lack of thought, he pressed on wondering if I might consider further examination of the reality of God’s presence in our lives. There even may be a scientific explanation of the spiritual realm. He explained that God never leaves us, we block his connection. Churches were formed to facilitate this reality through the communal experience. Even though this connection is initially more difficult when attempted alone, it can be achieved. After another period of silence, he asked, “What do you think?”
