Chapter 11 The rocking of the van had a welcome calming effect which led to delicious sleep. Somewhere in this blissful zone, I found myself hovering over my courtroom, watching the trial. The Judge was talking to the jury, then, they filed out of the room. My lawyer and I sat in total silence while the members of the Prosecution team laughed while they chatted. One member of the jury stood up to hand a piece of paper to the deputy who handed it to the Judge. He silently read it with a slight smile. A huge bump shook me out of my deep sleep. Cold shivers ran down my spine as I scanned my dark surroundings. Familiar commuting sounds drifted into my cave, horns beeping, loud mufflers racing by, the rattle of the van and pure silence.
