Everyone in the hallway panicked when they saw the woman falling from their arms. She would have been knocked to the floor if her arms were not held by the two of these men.
Chen Lei rushed to them and took the woman from their arms. The two refused to give him the unconscious woman but despite their combined strength, they still failed to take her back.
"Enough fighting." Arthur shouted. "If you don't want to break her body apart, then stop snatching her. Carry her and I will prepare the car."
"Hurry up!" Chen Lei shouted.
"It's all your fault. Still in the mood to shout at me?" Arthur mumbled as he passed through them. He did not care if he was heard by the devil or not. After all, it was the devil's fault.
Allen and Jasper held Chen Lei's both shoulders as he carried the woman in his arms and asked him in unison. "What are you trying to do? Let go of her!"
"You heard Arthur. She is sick. I have to bring her to the hospital." Chen Lei answered, unbothered to their ferocious gaze. "Stop interrogating me. Wait after I settle her to the hospital and come to me. Or just wait and I will come to you. The problem has not settled yet."
Finally, Chen Lei threw a meaningful look at Jerry and then left the house.
"What does he mean?" Jasper and Allen cast a quick glance at Jerry and chased after Chen Lei.
Just as they reached the garage, Chen Lei and Arthur were already on their way, driving out of the house.
"Hey, we have not even boarded yet!" Allen shouted. "f**k! Let's go. We will take another car."
…
In the hospital.
In the lobby, Chen Lei was calling out for a doctor. Hearing his authoritative voice, the nurses and stretcher immediately responded to them as if there was an approaching storm. Well, patience's life was absolutely important to them.
"What happened sir?" The nurse asked as he and others pushed the stretcher going inside.
"I don't know." Chen Lei answered. "She just suddenly fainted."
"Did she suffer from any illness?"
"I don't know. Why ask me? You are the doctor. Check for it."
The nurse and others looked at the man indifferently. Though they found his attitude rude, they didn't dare to talk back impolitely to him suspecting that the man's identity was not ordinary.
"One last question. Who is this woman to you?"
"My woman." Chen Lei answered without hesitation. "Hurry up and stop asking me. If something happens to her, I will make you all suffer the consequences."
"Alright. Please wait here." The nurse and others pushed the woman inside the ICU with a heavy heart.
Arthur came after he parked the car in the proper place. "Young Master, how is she?"
Chen Lei scratched his head and knocked his head on the wall. Hearing Arthur's question, he could close his eyes and sigh. "That's also what I wanted to know."
"Chen Lei, I have something in mind. I don't know if I should say it or not."
"Between us, what kind of thing is inappropriate for you to say? Say it."
"What did you do to her this time? I think she suffered too much shock. Did you force yourself to her again? How could you do that?"
Chen Lei quieted down for a while before he found his voice again. "I just wanted to show her that I am more powerful than her. I just wanted to scare her. I tried to talk sense with her but she kept provoking me. I lost control."
"So you touched her by force?" Athru looked at him with a gloomy look.
"Whether you believe me or not, nothing happened to us in the room. I was just trying to keep her inside with me."
Arthur nodded and sighed audibly. "Chen Lei, you are a genius man. How can you do such despicable things impulsively? A great man like you doesn't need to force himself on a woman. Otherwise, she will never cherish you."
"I understand. But I can't control myself when it comes to her."
"You rascal, what did you do to her!" Jasper, who had just arrived, rushed to Chen Lei and grabbed the man's collar. Chen Lei did not fight back but it did not mean he was going to allow that man to bully him. "Tell me. What did you do to her?"
Chen Lei gave him a cold look. "Hands off! Or I will break it."
Allen, who wore a mask, sprinted towards them and pulled Jasper off. "Jasper, don't do this. Don't forget about your own identity. This won't do good to you."
"Are you telling me we are just going to let this man go?" Jasper said angrily. "He is bullying Xander. He also bullied Geneva. He is going too far! Is it because he is your uncle and so you just don't want him to be accountable for what happened to her? What about her?"
"I don't want to!" Allen suppressed his own rage. He closed his eyes and spoke calmly. "Look Jasper. Don't create trouble here. This is a hospital. Some people might recognise you. It's bad for your reputation. Besides, he is Chen Lei. You can't beat him. He is cruel and powerful. You can do nothing about it. I don't want him to bully Geneva, but what can I do? I'm incapable."
"Nonsense! I don't fear the consequences. Most importantly, I don't fear him!"
"But Geneva will!" Allen scratched his head frustratingly. "Geneva will blame herself if something bad happens to her friends. She is so sensible though she always acts cold. If you put yourself in danger, she will blame herself and live in guilt. Do you want that to happen?"
Jasper lost for words to say and stepped aside, though he was unwilling to just submit to such ridiculous fate.
"This man is not someone you can shake off. Even if you gathered the whole platoon of the police force in the city, it is not enough to knock him down." Allen patted the man's shoulder. "Trust me. The best way to avoid trouble is to endure. Let's just wait for the doctor to come out. Geneva is a great woman. She will be blessed. She will be fine. Don't worry."
Seeing the problem solved, Arthur rubbed his chest as he heaved a sigh of relief with the thought in mind, "Glad that there is still a sensible man here. I really don't know what will happen to this man if he continues offending Chen Lei. He is really courting death."
Chen Lei turned his back at him and ignored their sharp gazes completely. Then he walked away a bit and called someone. "Luther, hold that man first. Don't let him escape. I will deal with him later when I'm done."
"Boss, I know you are in the hospital right now. What are you doing there? Looking after an unknown woman." Luther spoke in a dissatisfied tone. "You should come home. Don't do something that would let the Princess down."
"Are you the boss here or me?" Chen Lei's cold tone changed drastically into an intimidating one. Sure enough, he was offended by the man on the end of the phone.
"Boss, I am just telling this for your own good. I am not thinking about anything else. Don't let unknown people ruin your future."
"Luther enough! Don't talk about something you know nothing about." With that said, Chen Lei ended the call.
"Look at his detestable face. I really wanted to destroy it." Jasper uttered as he watched Chen Lei turning them back at them. With furious gaze towards the man, he averted his eyes away and landed at Allen who was mumbling on his side. "Hey, are you okay? What are you mumbling about?"
"Don't mind me." Allen replied, slapping the other man's hand that was poking his side.
"Look at you. You asked me to calm down. But why do you look worse than me? You are acting as if you are a husband that was about to lose a beloved wife. Peeh! Peeh! Peeh!" Jasper teased. "Look at your expression in the mirror. The word 'worried' is written so big all over your face. Everyone can tell it."
"I am just worried about her, okay? It's been ten minutes but the doctor is still not coming out. There's still no news. I wonder how she is right now. That woman, we are always together, but how can she not tell me that she is not feeling well. I will confront her when she recovers. She owes me that."
Jasper stared at Allen indifferently, not saying a thing.
Allen noticed his weird look and his heart pounded for unknown reasons. He was not sure what was in the other man's mind but he was uncomfortable with his look.
Was he exposed?
Allen frowned, feigning innocence. "What kind of look is that? Did I say something funny?"
Jasper narrowed his eyes. "Allen, be honest to me. Are you hiding something from me?"
"No." Allen pouted, slightly moving away from Jasper. "Don't say anything stupid. I don't want to hear nonsense from you."
"Calm down. Don't be nervous." Jasper pulled the man closer to him and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. "Allen, how long have we been friends? Do you think you can hide something from me? Tell me. Do you like Geneva?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Allen pushed the man away. "Jasper, I dare you not to mention such a thing again."
Arthur, Chen Lei, and others who were passersby in the hallway watched them indifferently. But the pair did not pay any heed to them.
Who cares if what was running in their heads?
"I'm not spouting nonsense here. I can tell that you like her."
"Shut up, can you do me that favor?"
"So it's true?"
"Of course not! You're thinking too much!"
"Then why are you so worried about her? Keep denying."
"Aren't you the same?" Allen glared at the other man sternly. "Aren't you also worried for her? Don't tell me you also like her?"
"Yes. I do like her." Jasper admitted seriously and looked down with a bitter smile on his lips.
"What?" Allen's eyes widened in disbelief. He did not notice the sadness in the man's eyes. "You can't be for real, right?"
"Do you think I'm joking?— wait. You said also?" Jasper gave him a weird look again. "Who is the other man who likes her? You can't be referring to yourself, right?"
"Don't change the topic. I am not the protagonist here." Allen looked away, refusing to talk.
