Chapter 75: Ambush

What is the boss doing?" Luther poked his head out of the window just to peek at the car behind them. His face reddened in anger and dissatisfaction. It was again all because of Xander. He found it hard to see Xander clinging on to his boss. In his eyes, Xander was like a leech that was hard to remove on his boss' skin."How could he bring that unknown man along with him and even take the ride with that man in the same car? Who is that person actually? I found him familiar but I can't remember who he is. Where did that man come from? He doesn't like a good person."

The one who was driving next to him spoke up, shaking his head. "Brother Luther, don't ask about it anymore. Let go with that baseless hatred of yours. You are being biased towards Xander. Arthur had said it. He is someone you can't offend. He has been warning you not to pull a fight with that man. Since Boss can't even bear to leave him alone in this village, surely, he is not an ordinary person. Otherwise, what do you think is the reason why Boss is so close to him?”

"I don't care! I just hate that man." Luther retracted his head from that window and closed it, pouting, "Just wait and see. I will teach that man a lesson. I don't believe that there was such a person that the boss cared the most except his own son. I don't believe it."

The man tapped his shoulder, laughing at him."Go ahead. But you have to be careful. Don't let the boss find out. If he finds out that you are scheming against someone, I don't know what he is going to do to you. You know how the boss deals with people who are disobeying him and betraying him. Don't allow yourself to experience such punishment."

"Do you think I'm an i***t?"

"Yes. I'm the one who is an idiot."

Luther looked behind them, face monitoring in anger. "I will teach that man a lesson. A kind of lesson that makes him unable to forget and run away. I will make sure that he will wish he had never met my boss and us."

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You are so scary. Even my hair is standing because of your threats."

"Hmmp, he will know he ran into the wrong people."

On the other hand, back to the white sports car. Inside was still in chaos. Xander didn't want to give up. He was determined to give them an unharmonious ride.

"You two, you can't do this to me." Xander shouted, her veins jutting out her neck as she traveled her sight back and forth to Chen Lei and Arthur. "This is k********g. This is k********g. I already told you. I don't want to see you. I don't want to stay with you. Who wants to go with you? You should not do this to me."

"I already did it. Are you still doubting me?" Chen Lei said coldly. He leaned his back against the backrest and closed his eyes, rubbing his temple. Although he still looked fresh, only God knew how exhausted he was from attending the woman.

He thought in his mind, "Women are really the hard one to deal with. They are so troublesome .I have encountered a lot of people but this woman is the only one who could tire me out. What a pain in my neck."

"Chen Lei, if you don't stop the car and let me out right now, I will shout non-stop." Xander threatened. His chest heaved up and down in anger.

"Go ahead. Feel free to do that." After those words came out from Chen Lei's mouth, he completely ignored the person next to him, pretending to be asleep. In fact, he was proud of himself every time he and Geneva we're together. He was used to silence and didn't allow any noise or disturbance around him, especially if he intended to give himself silence and wanted to rest. But towards that person on his side, he found himself so patient. His patience was reaching up to the sky. It was unlimited. It seemed that he could accept it no matter how rude or disobedient Xander to him.

How weird.

"Then don't blame me for doing this. Do you think I am joking with you? I don't have that mood!" Then Xander screamed and screamed endlessly. He did not only scream, he also gave the driver's seat a series of kicks, reasoned that the car shook and almost went on the wrong road.

Arthur almost knocked his face on the steering wheel because of what Xander did. He cursed silently.

Good thing Arthur was an experienced driver and he managed to control the steering wheel back to its right track. Otherwise, they would clash on the tree or get stuck in the bushes on the roadside since the road was narrow and muddy.

"Hey, Miss Sanchez, can you please behave? How can you kick my seat like that? Do you want us to die?" Arthur said while focusing on his driving. "Just scream if you want. Don't kick me! Or else you're putting everyone's life in danger."

"Who cares about your pathetic life?" Xander said through yelling. "Let's just die together! Do you think I'm afraid to die? I have died plenty of times. This one is nothing to me!"

Xander screamed endlessly.

"My God, she is crazy!" Arthur was caught between laughter and tears. "Young master, please stop her. She is really insane."

"Who dares to stop me! Come! Auhhh!" Xander screamed even louder near Chen Lei's ear, obviously enticing him to kick her out.

"Chen Lei, that woman is insane. Control him." Arthur said, almost begging. "He is so noisy, don't you think so?"

"No. He is not noisy at all." Chen Lei took a deep breath. Eyes remained closed. "Just continue driving. Don't allow any mishap in the road. As for this crazy person, just ignore him. I don't believe he won't get tired. Let him shout or kick however he wants. Who did she threatened of? Who's throat and legs will get hurt later?"

"But—”

"No buts!" Chen Lei ordered sternly. "What? Don't tell me you also don't want to give me time to rest? You want to disobey me too?"

"That's not what I meant. Alright. I won't say anything anymore. By the way, your clothes are in the back. Just reach it out and get change. Don't keep wearing wet clothes."

"No need."

"But—”

"I said no buts. Just focus on your driving and do nothing until I tell you. Did you hear me?" Chen Lei took a quiet sigh. "I can't believe you will ask me to get naked in front of a woman. I am not that kind of person."

Arthur shook his head, sighing, "Yeah. I heard you. I barely heard you. Who cares what you are trying to say. Okay, I won't mind you. Do everything you wish to do." He paused and added in his mind, "You two are a really good match. Both are stubborn, willful, and weird. I don't understand exactly what you both want. Sigh, it's so hard to earn money. Why is it so hard to earn money?"

"Auhhhh, are you two treating me like air here?” Xander whined like crazy. "You still have the nerves to talk in front of me, huh? I will scream here forever. Let's see how long your ears can last the noise of my voice. Auhhhhhhhhhh! Auhhh! Auhhhh!”

"Brother Xander, I beg you. Can you close your mouth, okay? Can you just come with us peacefully?" Arthur said loudly, enough for Xander to hear him. One of his hands was covering his ear. "President Chen just doesn't wish to leave you behind considering the situation in the village. You are a girl. You should know that. It's not safe for you to stay in this place alone. Most importantly, how can he bear to leave you behind with another man? Brother Xander, if you two want to fight, don't drag me in. The problem between you two has nothing to do with me. Can you not involve me if you want to torture him? I am innocent. So please, stop screaming. I really don't know how you can last screaming without hurting your throat but my ears are about to explode because of your voice. I beg you. Please, please, stop it, can you?”

Xander ignored Arthur's begging and continued screaming. His voice echoed inside the car like an endless roar of thunder in the sky, condemning them.

Arthur's face contorted in frustration. He felt like crying at that moment. "Aiyoh, my God, dear mom. Please, I beg you to stop. How did I offend you? Why are you torturing me too? I am just obeying orders. I don't wish to lose my job."

"Enough with the two of you!" Chen Lei shouted. His voice echoed in the car like a howl of billions of beasts, scaring the universe. His handsome face flushed in anger. Gaze we're murderous right as he opened them. "Could you two stop from creating noises? I have had enough of you! Let me rest, okay? I'm tired."

"No way!" Xander talked back, glaring at the man fearlessly. There's no trace of reluctance and messing around in his eyes. He was determined to enrage the man. "It's you who forced me to board in this car, what do you expect me to do? Follow you like a loyal dog? Huh, Even loyal dogs will bite you when you abuse them… President Chen, if you want me to give you peace, I can. No problem. But give me back my freedom first. Let me out. I don't want to go with you! I want to go out!"

Chen Lei abruptly seized Xander's chin in a rough manner, jaws moving tightly in his cheeks. He was extremely mad but his voice was low yet cold as he spoke. Only God knew how awful he felt from suppressing his anger not to break out. If he really broke out and went berserk, he had no idea what he could do. "Geneva, enough with your pretension. Enough with your crazy act. You don't want to stay with me? What? You want to stay with that man? Until now you still haven't changed that bad habit of yours? You still love collecting men wherever you go? What? Don't tell me you are planning to bed that guy! Huh? You want to bed him?"

An earth-shattering slap landed on Chen Lei's face. Then, Xander spoke, voice low and cold. As if he was too lazy to speak any longer. "Chen Lei, I'm so disappointed in you. How can you say such words towards a woman? Yes. I am a fickle woman. I want to bed him. Even if I had such a plan, you had no right to meddle in. You and I have no relations to each other. My business has nothing to do with you!"

Xander only felt the atmosphere of the car turned abnormally freezing cold and the air was suffocating. Even Arthur was no longer able to bring himself to speak. Even his breathing was carefully held in. In order not to anger the boss, he chose to just focus on driving as what was being told to him.

Without warning, Chen Lei claimed Xander's lips ferociously.

Xander was stunned for a few seconds. However, he struggled and refused the man's kiss when he recovered from that surprise attack. He punched him repeatedly and sometimes pushed him, but all of his refusal and attacks went in vain. Xander was unable to stop Chen Lei at all.

Xander gave up and just let the man do what he wanted. He let him punish him with a kiss.

"Alright. Just continue kissing. Don't stop. That way, I don't have to worry for my ears." Arthur thought in mind. He smiled as he shook his head as he occasionally glanced at the head mirror, watching the two behind him. "My boss really has a lot of ways to conquer this woman."

Chen Lei has no intention of acting like a gentleman in front of Xander. He has no plan of letting her go. It was all her fault after all. If she did not endlessly provoke him, their ride would certainly end in harmony.

Chen Lei was like a beast feasting on his favorite and long been craving prey. He conquered and invaded her mouth endlessly and roughly. Until he felt her lips swollen and eventually tasted her sweet blood.

Chen Lei even bit her lips.

Xander screamed. He attempted to give Chen Lei another slap but the man quickly seized her wrist, gripping it tightly and then stopped kissing her.

Both of their faces were red. Not because they just shared an intense and hot kiss, but because of the hatred that once again erupted in their hearts.

"How dare you bite me?” Xander struggled to break free but was unable to. It only intensified her anger towards the man. " You just know how to bully me. I hate you."

"You already called that as bullying?" Chen Lei smirked devilishly. "Miss Sanchez, you are too naive."

Xander froze for a while and spared a glance at Arthur who pretended he didn't hear anything. Xander should not be surprised if Chen Lei would call her with her real surname in front of Arthur. After all, Arthur was not only his secretary. But also a close friend. It was just normal for him to tell him things like his disguise. But, Xander was wondering. He knew Chen Lei for so many years, he had no habit of sharing his private affairs to anyone except if he was exposed by Arthur.

How did Arthur find out he was Miss Sanchez?

Xander flinched when he heard Chen Lei's next words.

"That's not how I bully someone. Since you wanted to know so much, I'd love to show you what real bullying should be like. Arthur, stop the car!"

"Huh? Why?” Arthur asked, feigning dumb. " Do you need something? Don't tell me you want to get out of the car in the middle of this absurdity? No. You can't. It's dangerous."

"You are such a bad actor. Stop the car!" Chen Lei ordered once more.

Arthur scratched his nape. "Alright. But please don't get too far."

"I don't need you to remind me."

Just like what Xander anticipated, Chen Lei hauled her out of the car. Because he pulled her out suddenly, Xander reacted late and almost stumbled on the ground.

"Since you love to be alone that much. Then enjoy the night by yourself." Chen Lei said. "Wish you happiness!"

"Thanks for the favor." Xander sincerely thanked Chen Lei for letting her out. However, what they responded to was a cold glare and an order to resume the ride.

Arthur was hesitant to drive away while he cast a glance at Xander who was standing obediently on that muddy road and raging rain.

"What? Are you worried about her? You're sorry for her?” Chen Lei said to Arthur as he noticed him not starting the car.

Arthur sighed and started the engine. "Chen Lei, I really don't know why you become like that. You are acting like a stupid brat when it comes to her. I hope you won't regret this later."

"Just drive. You nag and nag like this and like that. Are you a woman? Or you want to get down too and accompany her?" Chen Lei rubbed his temples and closed his eyes as he leaned his back against the backrest. "Let me have a nap."

"How can you bring yourself to sleep knowing that you left a woman in this place?" Arthur's expression became serious as he slowly drove away. "Chen Lei, Xander is Geneva. And she is a woman. Are you not worried at all? What if she meets a scumbag?"

Chen Lei took two seconds before replying. He took a deep breath and sighed. "What are you worried about? Though she is a woman, she is not an ordinary woman like you describe. If she really runs into scumbag, the one who is in danger is the scumbag , not her."

"Since when did your reasoning turn so bad as this now? Even though Geneva knows how to fight, she is still a woman. Her fighting skills are not as strong and precise as your men. What if she really meets real and elite gangsters?"

"She won't." Chen Lei frowned, thought running in his mind. "She won't. That woman is lucky. She won't ever encounter such a thing."

"What are you thinking?" Arthur asked when he got no response from his boss. "You've come to your conscience now?"

"Nonsense. I am thinking how you discovered that Xander is Geneva."

"When you have known a person for so long, you are able to recognise him no matter how he disguised himself."

"I see." Chen Lei nodded and looked outside, eyes closing back again. His action was clear. He has no plan to continue their conversation. He wanted to calm down. "That woman is getting on my nerves. When will she stop opposing me?"

Arthur could do nothing about it. Since he was unable to persuade him to change his decision, what he could was to pray that nothing would go wrong with her.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Xander stood still under the rain on the same spot. He was freezing but he still sent the car out of his sight. What he did was not needed since the surroundings were vague, especially as the rain was still pouring and the surroundings were dark. But he could not help himself from watching the blurry view of the car as well as listening to the roar of its engine running away.

Xander has complicated feelings surging in his heart. And after a while he laughed. He laughed at his stupidity and emotions, mumbling, "He finally left. You finally get rid of him. You finally get back your freedom today. You should be happy right? You should be happy that you angered him and left you alone in this place in the middle of the night?"

Xander turned back to the direction he came. He was about to take a step forward when he heard a gust of wind rushing towards him. He almost could not dodge since he reacted late and the arrow that the gush of wind carried pierced right on his foot.

Xander faintly saw the arrow stuck on the muddy ground. Eyes narrowing, he looked around at his surroundings, ears listened sharply, searching for enemies or scumbags. After several seconds finding nothing suspicious in the surroundings, he pulled the arrow and found out that there was a letter attached on it.

He pulled it off and tried his best to read the letter. The letter was made of rare materials, and so, despite the rain, it remained dry. Not only that, the paper was bright and so he could read the letter despite the darkness of the nighttime.

"My Xander is so precious to me. You are my world and my everything. I kept you with extra care and love. How could he just bully you? He bullied you? I will avenge you. Perhaps, when you are reading this letter, I am already on our way of killing him. Wait for me. I will take you back home. CJ." That was the message content of the letter.

"CJ? Who is CJ? Could it be, he..." Xander pondered. After a second, his eyes rounded in worry. "This is bad! Chen Lei and others are in danger. I have to warn them."

Without a second thought, Xander ran so fast, chasing after the entourage. Though the road was slippery, his speed was not burdened by it.

He was like a Cheetah. His speed was extraordinarily fast. Probably he was running two seconds per meter at the moment.

While chasing after the car, Xander couldn't help but mock himself. "Chen Lei, you have never expected this day to come, right? The one who detest you the most is actually trying to warn you from danger and save you. You must be laughing at me now. You said I wanted you to die, but now I am wasting my energy to save you. I am really such a laughable person."

Xander halted for several seconds to breathe. And again, he ran swiftly after the car.

It took him for a while before his eyes caught sight of the entourage running softly ahead of him. He looked around and he faintly heard random noises and rustles lurking in the bushes nearby.

Xander was about to shout 'be careful' when gunshots roared in the place. His voice was drowned by the sound of gunshots and bullets showered in the entourage. Mostly aiming the white sports car who was in the last one in the entourage.

Before those gunshots, Arthur saw through the side mirror that Xander was chasing after them. He was about to inform Chen Lei when bullets rained into their car.

"Ambush! Ambush!"

Arthur shouted as he tried to control the steering wheel while cringing down inside the car. "Young Master, be careful. We are under ambush. Who dares to do that? Are they tired of living? Did they don't know you?"

"I fear that they know us so well." Chen Lei calmly said.

"What do you mean?"

"They have been watching us from the very beginning. They are clearly well- prepared. Look at the place that they chose to ambush us. So complex."

Gunshots continued to thunder in the place. Apart from others who stopped to protect the white sports car and fired their guns back at the unknown enemy, the two main targets inside the sports car sat still on the seat.

Arthur was cringing while Chen Lei was just sitting still and seldom moved his body to dodge the bullets rushing to him. As if nothing was happening around him. As if those bullets were just a piece of tiny stones.

"Geneva is in danger." Chen Lei said, worry filled his eyes.

"Under such situations, you can still remember her. It seems like you are not yet over with her." Arthur wore a forced smile. "Want to look for her? No need. She is already right after us. What a surprising woman. Did she know that we are in danger?"

"What?” Chen Lei was unable to believe his ears. If that woman is really right after their car, then she was in great danger.

What was she doing? Want to act like a Knight and shining armor again?

"What- what did you say?" Chen Lei stutterd for the first time. "She- she is behind us?"
