Chapter 22

"No!" Tony yelled, panic surging through him. Talon's words didn't sound like a bluff; he would really kill. "You have thirty seconds left." Talon said, narrowing his eyes as Azureblade tightened his grip. "I'm sorry Please, don't hurt my wife!" Tony was on the verge of madness. He gritted his teeth and said to Maisy, "I'm sorry for today's incident. It was our fault. I apologize to you. I apologize!" Maisy looked up at Tony and saw the fear on his face. She felt a bit of sympathy. "Uncle Tony,, I just pushed Kairo a bit. He fell because he didn't stand properly! And I have a daddy—this is my daddy! If Kairo stops laughing at me, I'll forgive you." "Alright, he won't laugh at you, definitely won't laugh." Tony felt a mix of guilt and embarrassment at Maisy's words. "Azureblade, release her." Talon instructed Azureblade. "Hmph." Azureblade sneered, shooting the middle-aged woman a look of pure contempt. Tony helped his wife into the car, started it, and then angrily threatened through the broken window. "Brat, I'll remember this! Just wait. I'll deal with you when I get the chance!" After speaking, Tony didn't dare linger any longer and drove away quickly. "General, let me kill him!" Azureblade muttered menacingly, his eyes following the car away. "No need." Talon walked back to Tilly's side and said coldly, "In the future, I don't want Maisy to be bullied in kindergarten. If it happens again, you'll be out of a job. Not just you, I'll blow up the entire Starfall Kindergarten. I mean it!" Tilly nodded repeatedly, already stunned by Azureblade's terrifying presence. Azureblade followed closely behind, giving Tilly a contemptuous look. "A trashy woman like you doesn't deserve to be a teacher. Is it that easy to become a teacher nowadays? Teaching kids to lick rich people's boots from a young age? Ridiculous!" Tilly was too scared to even breathe, just kept whispering apologies over and over, full of remorse. *** Half an hour later, outside the largest restaurant in Philadelphia, Maisy stopped in her tracks. "Maisy, are you hungry?" Talon noticed the change in his daughter's expression and pulled her inside. "Daddy, wait, wait a moment!" Maisy pulled Talon timidly, swallowing hard. "Daddy, I heard they have a dessert here that's sweet but a little sour too. I've always wanted to try it! But mommy said everything here is too expensive. If we eat here, we won't have money for meals! Daddy, let's leave. When I grow up and earn money, we can come back!" Talon felt a sharp pang of guilt. His daughter, who should be who should be carefree at her age, had grown up too fast, forced to mature because of his absence. This made Talon feel deeply indebted to his daughter and Ariya. "It's okay, Maisy. It's fine to have a treat once in a while." Ignoring Maisy's protests, he led her into the restaurant and sat by the window. Seeing the attractive food in the display case, Maisy couldn't help but whisper, "Daddy, can I order now?" "Of course. I ordered you some ice cream and a piece of cake. If you want anything else, just go and get it." Talon said calmly, taking a sip of water. "Okay, daddy, wait here for me. I'll go and check over there!" Maisy struggled off the sofa and nodded toward the cupboard. Watching Maisy's behavior, Talon sighed inwardly, his eyes filled with tenderness. "Really? Coming to a place like this and only getting his daughter an ice cream and a piece of cake? Honey, look at this father, being so stingy withhis own kid. I don't even know what to say! He pretends to be rich when he's broke, teaching the child to be vain from a young age." At the next table, a woman sneered disdainfully at the scene. "So what? Maybe the kid wanted to come, and the dad brought her here to experience the rich life. That's how society is. Do you think everyone can earn a million a year like your husband? Don't be ridiculous. We can come here once a month, but those poor people might come here once in a lifetime!" The man swirled his wine glass, speaking arrogantly. "It's so annoying. Seeing him sitting there makes me uncomfortable!" The woman pouted, eating while constantly glancing at Talon. "Honey, can you ask the waiter to move him away from us?" As she spoke, she deliberately covered her mouth and nose, as if afraid of breathing the same air as Talon. "Let's not. I could, but he doesn't seem to have it easy either. Let it go." The man shook his head. The restaurant treated all patrons equally, so how could they ask someone to leave? "Oh well, having people like him around just makes me feel unlucky." The woman shook her head helplessly. For someone of their status to sit next to a lower-class man really lowered the restaurant's tone, making her understandably upset. Although their voices weren't loud, the proximity made it so Talon could hear everything. A flash of anger appeared in his eyes. But at that moment, Maisy suddenly returned. "Daddy, daddy, look! He gave me lots of cake!" Maisy, excited to show off her spoils, accidentally let the cake plate fly out of her hand as she raised it. "Maisy!" Talon, quick as lightning, jumped up and caught Maisy. Before Talon could ask Maisy anything, there was a sudden scream from nearby. Maisy's cake plate had mostly fallen to the ground, but a small portion had splattered onto the woman's clothes. "What is wrong with you? You've soiled my clothes!" The woman screamed angrily as she hastily wiped her dress with napkins. "Miss, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, it was an accident." Seeing her mistake, Maisy hurriedly ran over, bowing and apologizing, while pulling out two napkins. "Miss, let me help you wipe it." "Get away! Don't touch me with your dirty hands! Who knows if you're sick!" The woman pushed Maisy's hand away. At that moment, all her accumulated anger burst out. "If you can't afford high-end places, don't come! Ordering just ice cream and cake, what were you thinking? Isn't it better to eat ice cream and cheap burgers on the street? Why pretend here!? I'm so unlucky today, even dining here I run into people like you! Hurry up and pay for my dress; this is a limited edition high-end dress!"
