"What did you just say?!" Nia fumed when she heard Kayden's words.
She stepped up to Kayden and, in a flash, slapped him hard. Kayden didn't expect her to actually strike him and wasn't prepared. The slap landed solidly on his face.
Everyone around was stunned. 'This girl dared to hit Kayden? She must be crazy! Who doesn't know that Kayden has blood on his hands and that even the police couldn't touch him?'
Kayden quickly regained his composure, his eyes turning bloodshot. "You dare to hit me? I've been in this game for years, and no one has ever slapped me like that. You're asking for death! Grab her and strip her! After I'm done, I'll let you guys have some fun!"
His underlings' eyes lit up at this. This girl must be something special! Following Kayden meant good things. Just as they were about to make a move, Talon suddenly stepped beside Kayden.
"Who are you?" Kayden asked, startled. Before he could finish, Talon raised his hand and slapped him hard across the face. This slap was far stronger than Nia's, sending Kayden spinning three times before he could even process what had happened.
"Who… who are you to hit me?" Kayden stammered in disbelief, staring at Talon.
Talon remained expressionless and swiftly delivered another slap, the sound ringing out as it knocked Kayden to the ground.
"Brat, you think you're tough? Leave your name!" Kayden wasn't backing down, trying to rise from the ground.
"My last name is Storm," Talon replied, walking over and grabbing Kayden by the collar with one hand while his other hand began to rain down slaps.
Slap, slap! Each slap was louder than the last, leaving Kayden dizzy and unable to react.
"Stop… stop hitting me! I… I'm sorry!" Kayden felt like he was going to explode with frustration.
Each time he raised his right arm, it felt like he would be sent flying. But the strength from his left arm kept pulling him back. After dozens of slaps, it wasn't that Talon had stopped; his clothes were torn to shreds, leaving no way to grab onto anything.
Nia watched in awe, her beautiful eyes sparkling. "That's right, now this is the kind of dominance a general should have!"
Seeing Kayden lying on the ground, completely humiliated, Nia couldn't help but laugh, a joyous and carefree sound. After all, he was a general; even in fighting, he had such a commanding presence.
"I've beaten Kayden like this, and you guys aren't going to do anything?" Talon glanced at Kayden's crew, a sneer crossing his face. The guys with Kayden looked tense; they wanted to jump in, but seeing Talon handle Kayden like that was just too intimidating.
"You... you think you're tough with those hands? Go ahead, do it without using your hands!" one guy shouted bravely.
"Oh? Alright," Talon replied, smiling as he put his hands behind his back.
"Alright, guys, let's all jump him together! Don't be afraid!" The guy gritted his teeth, and after getting nods from his friends, six of them charged in like a pack of Steelclaws. But before they could even register what was happening, Talon suddenly kicked out—bang, bang, bang.
All six flew backward, taken out in an instant, without a single breath left. The remaining ten or so looked at their fallen comrades in horror, their scalps prickling with fear. Who would dare face a ruthless killer like him? In an instant, they tossed their sticks aside and scrambled away in panic.
"Looks like your friends aren't very loyal," Talon remarked to Kayden with a teasing tone.
"Sir, please... spare my life! I beg you, spare me!" Kayden, seeing that all six of his companions were done for, was no longer arrogant. He bowed, his face bruised as he pleaded desperately.
Talon replied coldly, "If it weren't for me today, someone else would have stepped in, and Multi-colored Stone would have been wiped out by you guys. Looking at your earlier actions, if I hadn't intervened, what would have happened to Nia today? You think begging for mercy now isn't a little too late?"
"You... you can't kill me! My uncle is..." Kayden instinctively backed away as Talon stepped closer.
But before he could finish his sentence, there was a sharp "snap," and Talon had already broken his neck. A gasp rippled through the crowd as they looked at Talon in shock. 'He... actually killed Kayden!' Kayden's eyes widened in disbelief; he couldn't believe Talon had the guts to do it.
'He's too domineering!' Nia's mouth dropped open in disbelief as she watched the scene unfold. This man gave her a sense of security that Dale could never provide. 'Oh my God, if only I could marry him, even for just one day, I'd be willing!'
"You can call whoever you want," Talon said softly to Mr. Curtis.
Mr. Curtis froze for a moment, his voice quivering as he pleaded. "Sir, you're like a father to me! Please, spare my life. I shouldn't have been blinded by profit and tried to get my hands on that Multi-colored Stone."
He added, "I shouldn't have asked Kayden to step in. Please, I'll give you the stone! I have an elderly mother who's eighty and a newborn child to care for." Mr. Curtis placed the stone on the ground and began to cry.
"I don't have a son like you!" Talon narrowed his eyes, suddenly furious.
Mr. Curtis was so frightened that he slapped himself twice, the sound echoing loudly, and his cheeks visibly swelled.
He said, "Sir, I misspoke! I'm not your son; I'm a beast, a wild dog—worse than a dog! Sir, consider the stone a gift from me. I don't even dare ask for your payment. Miss, please, say something to your man and let him spare me!"
"Don't say that! He's not my man!" Nia's face flushed. The boss's words made her heart race. She fought to hide her excitement and stepped up to Talon. "Mr. Storm... Kayden is dead now. Can you just let him go? He was just blinded by profit. If we think about it, it's not that serious!"
"Let him go?" Talon frowned, looking at Nia in confusion.
Nia pouted. "Look, he realizes his mistake. I don't think he'll pull any more tricks. Plus, he mentioned he has a newborn child. If you kill him, how will his family survive? Mr. Storm, I'm begging you, please let him live!"
The boss was incredibly grateful and thought to himself that he must have done something good in a past life to deserve Nia's defense. Little did he know, it was merely because he had said Talon was her man that had saved him.
"Fine, whatever," Talon finally spoke up.
Mr. Curtis let out a long breath of relief and handed the Multi-colored Stone to Nia with both hands. "Thank you, sir! Thank you, miss!"
He continued, "Miss, if you trust me with your Multi-colored Stone, I'll make sure to get it back to you tonight. The best sculptor in Pennsylvania, Martin Lowe, is a friend of mine. I'll ask him to carve you a Unicorn as a token of my gratitude!"
