Chapter 83

Talon's actions also inspired the firefighters. Like fierce wolves, they grabbed their equipment and charged in. It was a battle between the firefighters and the flames. The firefighters showed incredible strength, rescuing one injured person after another. The crowd watching clenched their fists, cheering loudly for Talon and the firefighters. In a big country like the U.S., there's never a shortage of heroes. Whenever the country or its people need them, ordinary folks will step up and become the backbone of the nation. As Talon watched the firefighters rushing to save the injured, a smile appeared on his lips before he fainted. When he woke up again, he found himself in a hospital, with Ariya sleeping soundly beside him. He glanced at the clock—it was already past midnight, and he had been out for four or five hours. He tried to sit up, but the pain in his back made him let out a small "Ah." Ariya immediately opened her eyes. Seeing Talon awake, she was both surprised and overjoyed. "You're finally awake! Do you know you've been unconscious for over four hours? I was so worried you'd never wake up again!" Seeing the relief on Ariya's face, Talon smiled. "I kind of want to get hurt again if it means I can enjoy this level of care from you." Ariya shot him an annoyed glance. "What nonsense are you talking about? When have I not cared for you? Don't move. The doctor said you had 72 pieces of glass lodged in you, some deep, some shallow. It took them over an hour to get them all out. But you still need to rest, or it might get infected, which would be a huge problem later on." Talon looked at Ariya and suddenly remembered something. "That won't happen—I'm pretty resilient. By the way, don't you have the renaming ceremony tomorrow? You should get some rest and make sure you look stunning when you officially rename it to Arilon Group!" "But…" Ariya hesitated, remembering the event. Talon cut her off decisively. "No 'buts.' I'll have Azureblade stay with me. If you insist on staying here, then… maybe we should talk about giving Maisy a little brother or sister?" Ariya's face turned bright red in an instant. "You… honestly! You're hurt this badly and still not behaving! If you can move right now… well, I'll let you do whatever you want!" "Really?" Talon looked at her lowered gaze and swallowed hard. "Nope," Ariya giggled and, seeing that Talon still had the energy to joke around, ran out of the room. Talon shook his head with a bitter smile. It looked like adding another kid was going to be a long road ahead. Eventually, Ariya gave in to Talon's persuasion. Once Azureblade arrived, she went home, knowing she needed enough sleep to face the big day tomorrow—the renaming ceremony. The next morning, Ariya woke up, made a quick call to check on Talon, and upon hearing that everything was stable, she got up, showered, and dressed. Driving to the office, she noticed that all the employees were wearing new uniforms, looking sharp and full of energy. Ariya looked around at the familiar yet slightly different surroundings, feeling a bit surreal. Could it be that Yuvi Group had finally become Talon Group? Just after 8:30 a.m., Chace called out from the entrance, "We have guests! Deputy Mayor Alvin of Philadelphia is here, along with Mateo and Jensen of the Willis family, for the Arilon Group renaming ceremony!" Ariya, who had been inspecting the lobby, was momentarily stunned. How did her father end up with Mateo? Just as she was wondering, she saw Alvin and Jensen, supporting Lord Willis, approaching from both sides. Ariya quickly composed herself and walked over, bowing slightly. "Grandpa, Dad, how come you're here so early?" Mateo, who had previously been indifferent to Ariya, now acted very pleased with himself. "Haha, Ariya, since your Arilon Group is renaming today, how could I, the vice-chairman, not show up early?" He added, "With you in the Willis family, we've entered a season of growth! I'm waiting here to greet the guests so they can see that the Willis family is far from finished. Oh, and don't worry about that 60% of the shares; I know you're busy today, so we'll talk about it afterward!" 'Sixty percent of the shares?' Ariya was briefly taken aback. She looked up at Jensen, who was smirking. "Ariya, I must say, you're really good to the Willis family. Not only did you make Grandpa the vice-chairman, but you also gave him 60% of the shares. On his behalf, I thank you. Don't worry—Grandpa certainly won't be giving those shares away!" Ariya instantly realized what was happening. Jensen, fearing a scolding from their grandpa, had lied, claiming she had given away 60% of the shares. 'What a complete fabrication!' "Grandpa, this must be some kind of misunderstanding!" Ariya hastily tried to explain. Alvin cut her off. "Ariya, there's no need to explain. I'm happy you're willing to give away the majority of Arilon Group's shares. But these are internal Willis family matters. Outwardly, you're still the chairwoman, and your grandpa is the vice-chairman. You don't need to be out here in the spotlight. Come, let's go upstairs for some coffee." Biting her lip, Ariya realized her father was insistent, so she didn't argue further and headed upstairs. On her way back to the conference room, she made an excuse, slipped into the restroom, and called Talon. "Talon, something's changed!" Ariya's voice was tight with frustration and anger. "What's wrong?" Talon, ignoring the doctor's advice, had already checked out of the hospital and was having breakfast with Azureblade. Ariya was fuming. "Yesterday, I told Jensen to give Grandpa a salary of 100,000 dollars a month, but Jensen had the nerve to lie, telling everyone I gave Grandpa 60% of Arilon Group's shares!" She added, "I wanted to correct him on the spot, but then Grandpa brought Dad into it, and now Dad believes it too. It's put me in an impossible position—if I don't give the shares, Dad's going to be mad!" Talon couldn't help but chuckle. "Ariya, you're being really silly." Ariya, growing even more anxious, replied, "How am I being silly? If I don't clear this up, I'll have to hand over the shares. Jensen is roasting me on a spit here! Anyway, Arilon Group is your investment. Don't think you can just walk away from this. Now tell me, what should I do?"
