Chapter 95

One of them shouted, "You killed him? I'm calling the cops right now, and they'll have you arrested! Hey, what's the number for the police? Tell me, quick!" He frantically tried to dial the number, but his hand trembled so badly he couldn't even hit the buttons. "Then why don't you join him?" Talon said with a cold smile. He casually flicked a soup spoon from the table. The spoon flew like lightning, hitting the man square in the forehead with a sharp crack. The man's eyes went wide as he glanced at Talon one last time before collapsing, stone dead. In the blink of an eye, two people had dropped dead, and everyone else was petrified with fear. After standing there stunned for a moment, they all suddenly scrambled for the door in a panic! Every customer and staff member in the diner started fleeing. 'Who knows what this mad man would do next?' Talon grabbed a chair and swiftly tossed it toward the door. It landed perfectly, blocking their exit. Rising slowly to his feet, Talon said icily, "None of you are leaving. Anyone who moves will end up just like them." This was the first time Talon had shown this side of himself in front of Ariya. Back in the Middle East, killing was second nature to him. Keeping control of the situation here was child's play. His whole body exuded a terrifying aura, and everyone felt as if Talon was staring directly into their souls. If anyone so much as moved, they were certain it would mean their death. Ariya was frozen, staring dumbfounded at Talon. These men had only said some vile things, and he just killed them? As she watched Talon, a strange mix of nervousness and a small, surprising warmth filled her heart. "Please, sir, I beg you, this really has nothing to do with me! All I said was that your wife looks even prettier than in the pictures, and I regretted not meeting her sooner! I didn't say anything else, I swear! Please, let me go!" One of the guys, called Charlie, was already on his knees, begging and sobbing. Talon walked up to Charlie, towering over him as he coldly asked, "My wife and I were just passing by, planning to grab some coffee. So why did you immediately start spouting such filth when you saw her? Be honest with me, and maybe I'll spare your life." "Sir, it's because of that post! Yesterday, we saw a news article pop up. We clicked on it and saw the whole thing! If you don't believe me, see for yourself!" Charlie pulled out his phone and searched for the article, handing it to Talon. Talon took the phone, and with one glance, his expression grew ice-cold. Since arriving in the city, he had never been this furious. 'Who on earth is behind this smear campaign against Ariya?' "Talon, let me see," Ariya said, walking over after noticing Talon's silence for over a minute. Talon glanced at her and handed her the phone. "Prepare yourself." Ariya took the phone, confused. The screen displayed: [Husband Away, I Took Pleasure with Several Men.] The article was written from a woman's point of view, claiming that after Talon left, Ariya had affairs with other men. Every story had a photo attached, and the last one showed her grabbing a man and smiling at the camera, her face visible. Ariya gripped the phone tightly, frantically trying to delete the post. But since she wasn't the one who had posted it, she had no way to take it down. "This isn't me! This isn't me, I swear! The last photo—it's obviously photoshopped! Someone's framing me! Talon, you have to believe me, I would never betray you!" Tears streamed down Ariya's face as she was overwhelmed with grief. For the past five years, she had constantly reminded herself that she was a married woman, suppressing all her desires. However, since Talon's return, their relationship had slowly improved. She could swear on her life that Talon was the only man she had ever been with. Talon's heart ached as he gently took her hand. "None of the pictures show your face except for one, and the editing on that one is obvious. This is all a fabricated story. You're the CEO of Arilon Group, and it's natural for someone to try to tarnish your reputation." "Talon, what... what do I do now?" Ariya asked, her heart calming a little as she met Talon's reassuring gaze, but the news article still weighed on her like a heavy stone. "I'll handle it." Talon took the phone, glancing at the source's name: Norman News. He chuckled. Talon handed the phone back to Charlie. "You're free to go. But I'll tell you this—the news is fake. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. But if I ever find out that any of you are talking about my wife, whether to her face or behind her back, you'll end up just like those two." "We wouldn't dare, sir, not in a million years!" Charlie bowed repeatedly in apology. After that, Talon led Ariya out the door. As soon as they reached the entrance, they were met by police officers responding to the emergency call. Ariya was startled and instinctively gripped Talon's hand tightly, but then she saw the officers salute Talon. He didn't even acknowledge them, driving Ariya directly to Norman News. "What do you want? Who are you looking for?" the receptionist asked impatiently. She was used to people coming in to request the removal of negative stories, so she didn't take Talon seriously. "There was a post this morning. I'm here to see your boss," Talon said calmly. "Oh, you mean 'Husband Away, I Took Pleasure with Several Men'? That post is wild! It's already got over a million views! The boss is on the top floor—go ahead and talk to him yourself." The receptionist gave Ariya a glance but kept quiet, handing Talon a key card for the elevator. Talon took the card without a word and rode the elevator to the top floor. The only office there had a sign reading "General Manager." Without knocking, Talon walked right in. "What the hell? Who are you? Get out of here!" Talon saw a woman on her knees and a man, presumably the boss, leaning back in his chair. The man had clearly been startled by Talon's sudden entrance and was pointing at the door, telling him to leave. Talon blocked Ariya's view and gently led her back outside the office. Talon then strolled over to the couch and sat down, his tone indifferent. "You're Pete Norman, the CEO of Norman News, right? Let's discuss business first; you can get back to your games afterward." Pete smirked from behind his desk. "Discuss what? Everyone who comes here is just trying to get negative news deleted. Which company are you from? By the way, if you want to negotiate at this hour, the price has just tripled. Otherwise, there's nothing to talk about."
