Chapter 7

Faced with the proposal, Ariya looked disgusted. "Angus, I already have a husband. I love him dearly and won't divorce him!" 'Angus Wright...' Talon remembered the name. This man was Ariya's childhood friend who had gone to South Africa for business, losing contact with her. Talon saw Angus grabbing his wife's arm. "Ariya! Please don't reject me! Your vagrant husband has no money or status! He can't earn in a lifetime what I make in a day! Why can't you understand? I'm the only one who can make you happy!" "What are you doing? Let go!" Ariya panicked and tried to shake off Angus's hand, but Angus reached for her waist, trying to hug her forcefully. "Ariya, marry me. I will treat you well! Let's make love right now!" "f**k!"Seeing this scene, Talon rushed into the ward and kicked Angus hard in the chest. A loud bang echoed! Angus just flew out like debris and slammed into the wall. This happened so fast that Ariya couldn't even react before seeing Talon standing in front of her like a mountain! "Damn it! Who dares to hit me?" Angus struggled to get up, clutching his chest, and when he looked up, he met Talon's domineering eyes. Angus was terrified. He often dealt with brutal mercenaries in South Africa, and Talon's gaze was even more frightening than those mercenaries! Talon stared at him. "Do you want to die? How dare you touch my wife!" "You... you!" Angus trembled as if he were being stared down by the death god. But soon, Angus calmed down and stared at Talon with a sinister look. "I wondered who it was. Turns out it's just a tramp. Do you think you're great just because you served in the military for a few years?" He continued. "I'm telling you, you don't deserve her, and you're not worthy of being Maisy's father. Ariya deserves someone better! I was too caught up in business to develop feelings for Ariya, but now I want to compete with you on equal ground!" After saying this, Angus reached into his pocket and pulled out a small white box with exquisite golden patterns carved on it. "Ariya, open it. It's a gift for you!" he said. Ariya wanted to refuse, but Talon opened the white box, and instantly, a diamond flashed with colorful light under the lamp. Angus immediately said with a proud face, "Ariya! When I was doing business in South Africa this year, I saw this diamond named Heart of the Ocean! It has a special meaning: it is only given to the person you love the most. So I spent six million dollars to buy it and bring it back for you!" "Sorry, it's too expensive. I can't accept it! If I want it, my husband will buy it for me!" Ariya pushed Talon, indicating he should return the diamond. "Mr. Wright, it seems your six-million-dollar Heart of the Ocean failed to impress my wife. Can you leave now?" Talon was already very impatient. Angus acted as if he hadn't heard Talon's dismissal. "Ariya, we grew up together. Why are you pretending in front of me? Your useless husband is a disgusting tramp who accidentally married you, and I heard he lived off you for over six months! With his income, can he afford such a diamond?" "Yes, I don't have much money, but I don't deceive people with a fake diamond." Before Ariya could speak, Talon spoke calmly. "Is his diamond fake?" Ariya was slightly stunned. "Fake? Go to South Africa and ask around about my business before you talk!" Angus sneered. "I don't look down on you, but has someone who can't earn six million in a lifetime ever seen a diamond? If you can prove this diamond is fake, I'll chop my head off for you to use as a toilet! If you can't, leave Ariya alone forever and stay out of her life!" "Talon, give it back to him. Whether it's real or not, I don't want it." Ariya looked at Angus with disgust. Talon placed the diamond on the table and smiled lightly. "Since you want to bet, I'll make sure you give up! The Heart of the Ocean is known to have an ocean-like wave pattern under a microscope, hence the name. "This diamond is extremely rare, and the last time it appeared was three years ago at the Aethermark Auction. It was bought by a mysterious buyer for a billion dollars! Identifying a diamond is simple: breathe on it. A real diamond dissipates heat quickly and doesn't fog up easily. "Or, under the light, a real diamond's refraction is sharp and dazzling, but your diamond's refractive index is low. It's probably made of glass. Also, if yours is worth six million, its base shouldn't be cheap. Look at the standard C.Z. mark on the base; it means your diamond isn't real. It's just a cubic zirconia worth a few hundred dollars." "That's bullshit! The seller couldn't have tricked me!" Angus's eyes turned red. "Then you should ask the seller. How about it: admit defeat, or find an expert to verify it?" "Admit defeat? When did I bet with you?" Angus stood up. "Didn't you just say that if I proved the diamond fake, you'd take your head off for me to use it as a toilet?" Talon looked at him curiously. "Did you forget so quickly?" "Haha, it was just a joke!" Angus didn't want to admit it. "That won't do!" Talon's tone turned cold, and the surrounding temperature seemed to drop. "If I hadn't explained, would you have let me off? You'd probably have used this to convince Ariya to leave me. Now that I've won, you say it's a mere joke?" Angus looked at Talon gloomily and said, "You'd better stop while you're ahead. Don't embarrass me, or else..." Before he finished speaking, Talon pressed his head with his left hand, and with a flash of a fruit knife in his right hand, it sliced past his neck and embedded into the solid wood table to the hilt!
