Chapter TwoSpraying the pavement with water from the deep puddle at the side of the road as she turned into the car park, Beth Chandler parked her white Punto Cabriolet in the closest available space to the hospital entrance. Grabbing a long coat draped over the passenger seat, she slipped it over her loose white shirt, wrapping herself up tightly against the morning chill. Making her way toward the entrance, she kept looking back. Reaching the doors, she pushed them open and hurried inside, stopping at the edge of the lobby. Glancing at the few members of staff going about their business, she approached the reception desk, her eyes darting at each of the unfamiliar faces. Hating being surrounded by strangers, she forced herself to reach the desk, barely looking at the attending nurse
