Holding Out For A Hero

He watched her as she entered the club making sure he wasn't seen, he had seen her at the track but just couldn't bring himself to speak to her, plus she always had people around her. Deciding tonight would be the night as everyone would be enjoying themselves and not paying much attention to what all was going on, he would make his move and get the girl he had been fantasising about for the past few days. Hayley entered into the club followed closely by the rest of the medical team, she couldn't believe how many people where there celebrating the end of a Grand Prix weekend. Jessica stood beside her as she stood drinking everything in. "Come on you, Dr Roberts has a reserved area for us, keeps us away from the riff raff" shouted Jessica in Hayley's ear "OK I'll follow you I have no idea what to do or what I'm even doing here!" Hayley yelled over the loud music. Clubbing really wasn't her scene, she had been to one or two when she was a medical student but once she had qualified as a Doctor she just didn't have the time or see the point in it anymore. Scanning around the club she drank in the scene around her but didn't see the one person whose eyes she wanted to catch. She didn't see the guy at the back watching her every move "Honey you won't see him down here with us, he'll be upstairs in the VIP area. They wouldn't be seen slumming it with us 'common folk' except to get on the dance floor which only a few of them actually do" "Oh ok" Hayley said with a hint of disappointment in her voice. Not letting it ruin her night by not seeing him she joined the rest of the team who all exclaimed how well she looked and congratulating her on her first weekend with the team. "So what you having to drink?" asked Ryan "and don't worry we don't have to pay for our drinks, well not as of yet as Dr Roberts has left a tab behind the bar" "Just a gin and tonic please Ryan" He walked off to the bar to get the order in for the groups drink. Hayley sat in a place where she hoped she wouldn't be seen but still could drink in the atmosphere around her. Some of the team asked her to join them on the floor but she shook her head saying thanks but no thanks I don't really dance. Jessica had already hit the floor dancing to the beat of the music. Hayley wished she had her confidence to just let it all go and relax, but she was never that type of person and was always the sensible one on any nights out she went on. Plus this type of music wasn't really her cup of tea anyway having grown up listening to rock music and listening on and odd occasion to old school dance music. "Right you I'm not taking no for an answer this time your joining me on the dance floor, these ones are getting old and want to go home soon" she joked nudging Ryan on the shoulder. "Hey enough of the old man jokes missy, we can party just as hard but we just don't want to do it on the dancefloor all night" Ryan jokingly replied. Grabbing Hayley by the arm Jessica began dragging her out onto the dancefloor saying she wasn't staying out there on her own, when the music changed to a completely different beat and suddenly the crowd went wild. As Hayley heard the first beats of the song she yelled to Jessica "Oh my god I love this song!" as Journeys Don't Stop Believing was played loudly over the club. Singing along and probably due the few G&Ts which she had drank she began to loosen up. Suddenly they were joined by a few from the team and they all formed a circle singing and jumping up and down to the beat. Mouthing to Jessica she was heading the toilet she extracted herself from the circle who were still bouncing to Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer. As she made her way to the ladies she didn't notice the guy making his way around the crowd towards her. He watched as she left the group she was with and as she began to walk away he made his move watching as her curly blonde hair bounced as she walked away. Circling around the edge of the dancefloor he made his way to where the ladies toilets were hoping he could get her as she was coming out, but he didn't see the other guy who was also watching her every move as he stood near the bar. Hayley came out of the ladies room and straight into a guy who had his back to her. He turned around and looked at her, his dark blonde hair and grey eyes looking straight at her. "Excuse me I didn't mean to bump into you" Hayley apologised to him "Not to worry I was in the road" he said Hayley then tried to get past him when he side stepped blocking her path "How about I get you a drink and you can apologise properly then" he asked "Mmmm thanks but no thanks. I had better get back to my friends" she replied as she tried to step round him when she felt him grabbing her arm tight. "Oh you aren't going anywhere sweetie you're going to stay with me" he said in a menacing tone. He had an evil smile on his lips and his grey eyes suddenly seemed more black. Hayley began to panic she didn't like the way this guy was getting on and he was hurting her arm with his tight grip. She couldn't even signal to Jessica or anyone in the group as they had all went back to sit down. She tried to pull away but he just gripped her tighter. "Please can you let me go your hurting me" she pleaded with him while still trying to pull away. "No your not going anywhere" he said in a threatening tone. "I believe she asked you to let her go" a voice suddenly said from behind her. Turning her head around to see who it was speaking she looked straight into the face of Charles. He had been standing watching the interaction and thought at first this guy was her boyfriend until he could see the unsettled and panicked look on her face as she tried to pull her arm away. He'd said to Carlos and Pierre he'd be back in a minute as he walked over and heard her pleading with him to let her go. The guy turned round to see who was speaking to him and tried to pull Hayley closer to him. Hayley looked pleadingly at Charles hoping that he would understand that this guy was bothering her. "Back off mate she's with me and we will just be leaving." "She doesn't look like she wants to be with you and besides she's with me not you" The guy laughed at this and said "I haven't seen you with her all night so I don't think she's with you" "Just because I haven't been with her doesn't mean she isn't with me. She is here with her friends and I'm with mine but I think it's time for us to leave together" "I don't think so" the guy said as he tried to pull Hayley away from Charles. Hayley tried to pull away from him but he had a tight grip on her. "I don't think you understand" said Charles "she does not want to be with you so just let her go" as he tried to put his arm around her. Suddenly Charles felt something hitting him on the cheek and he swung back connecting with his nose. "JUST BACK THE f**k OFF" he yelled at Charles. By this stage people had begun to stare and watch at the scene unfold around them. Pierre and Carlos had arrived by this time and saw the guy hit Charles. They grabbed him causing him to let Hayley go. Security arrived and soon the guy was escorted out of the club. Hayley began to collapse to the floor crying until a strong pair of arms wrapped around her pulling her to her feet and guided her away from everyone. "Oh my god Hayley are you okay? Asked Jessica who had just heard what was going on and rushed over to her and had her purse and phone. "She'll be fine, I'm just taking her away from this crowd and also those ones" as he nodded his head towards ones with phones out. "Please look after her. Tell her to find me later" Jessica said worried about Hayley "I will" promised Charles as he then led Hayley away and up to the VIP area and away from everyone else. Handing her a bottle of water and some tissues he gently wiped away her tears. "Do you always end up saving damsels in distress, especially ones you don't know?" asked Hayley once she had stopped crying and drank some water not looking up from her feet. Laughing at this "No, just only ones I like" he replied Hayley looked up and saw bruise forming around his left cheek. Gasping she felt like it was all her fault he sustained this "I'm so sorry you got hurt" she said apologetically, "you shouldn't of got hit it's all my fault" "No, don't think like that. He was totally out of line and he could of hurt you, just look at the marks he has left on your arm." "You're stupid do you know that" Hayley replied shaking her head and looking down now at the red marks left on her arm. "Awww you stole my line" he said as he laughed "I've been known to say that many a time. Now don't you worry about my face it will heal" "How can I ever thank you?" asked Hayley "How about dinner sometime?" he asked "I suppose I could do that but when? I'm due to head to Monaco to meet the medical team in preparation for the next race" questioned Hayley "Awww that's it settled then. We shall dine out in my home town and I'll show the sights" he exclaimed "Okay Charles I will look forward to that. But I think I had better head back to Jessica and my team and go back to the hotel. I've had enough excitement for one night. Thank you for being there at the right place at the right time. I just hope I haven't got you in trouble" Hayley said as she placed a gentle kiss on his cheek and got up to go as the rest of the guys had returned upstairs. Filling her in on what happened next she thanked them all and left. "Now whose Prince Charming? Riding up in his white horse to save the day?" teased Pierre "Come on lads you'd of done the same if it was you that saw it" "Fair play to you mate that you did that I'm sure she's grateful for it too. Just would love to see you explaining how you got the nice bruise" said Max "I'm sure he's heard already you know what these places are like with the paps and social media" Charles said as he glanced down at his now ringing phone and seeing the Ferrari teams boss name on the screen. He excused himself to talk. Meanwhile downstairs Hayley had rejoined Jessica and the rest of the team. "Oh my god are you okay?" Jessica said very concerned and grabbed her into a big hug "I'm grand Jessica just arm is sore where had been holding me tight" Hayley replied as she rubbed her arm and saw the bruising begin to appear. "I'm so sorry that that happened to you I should of went with you to the toilet." Jessica said "It's OK Jessica it wasn't your fault. I'm just glad Charles was there though he was great" "Ahhh the hero saves the day but should of known he would he was over her looking for you" "Did he really? asked Hayley a bit shocked "Oh yes he did and his wee face when he saw you weren't here" Ryan said "Well he found me in the end thankfully. I'm going to call it a night and head back." "Stay safe Hayley and I'll see you in Monaco" Ryan said giving her a big hug. She said goodbye to everyone and headed out into the night air to get a taxi back to her hotel. Jessica was going to go with her but she said she'd be fine and just wanted some time alone As she waited outside in the cool air hoping her taxi would arrive soon a land rover with darkened out windows pulled up and and the window came down showing Charles behind the wheel. "Does madame moseille need a lift home?" he asked "Do you always make it a habit of turning up to rescue girls? But yes that would be great thank you" Leaning over he opened the door for her and watched as she got in, seeing the start of the bruises on her arm. He was angry when he saw them as he felt he should of been there sooner to protect her. He drove her back to her hotel and the drive was quiet as she had drifted off into a slumber. Nudging her gently as he pulled up outside the hotel she opened her eyes. "s**t, sorry I didn't mean to fall asleep, how rude of me" "Don't worry mon cherie you didn't snore" he said laughing. Being the gentleman he got out and opened the door for her to get out. She stepped out thanking him for the lift and for everything tonight. He watched her walking into the hotel making sure she got in save. Now he had to go meet with the ferrari media team to explain what had happened as the news of the altercation had hit twitter and t****k. Hayley entered into her room and quickly got changed into her pyjamas and climbed into bed. She glanced at her phone to see a ton of messages. One caught her eye from Jessica saying you need to see this. Opening the link it was a video uploaded to t****k of the guy punching Charles and Charles punching back while she stood there crying. Until Charles pulled her into him and ushered her away. Hayley didn't know what to do and she didn't want to see or hear anymore about it. She regretted going out as she hated these things happening and never thought it would be her. Rolling onto her side she tried to sleep but the tears began to roll. She wasn't looking forward to tomorrow. Sleep soon took hold of her as she had cried herself to sleep.
