On the way back with him, Blair leaned against the window and looked into the distance in silence.
Reed seemed to be in a good mood. From time to time, he would turn to look at her. Although she did not pay him any heed, there was an unmistakable smile on his lips.
He didn't take her back to the Duncan mansion. Instead, he drove her back to her mother's neighbourhood.
She didn't ask why. Coming to think of it, the reason was very obvious. Briana had just driven her out, so he probably didn't want to go against his mother by letting Blair be the mistress of the Duncan mansion again.
He stopped the car at the entrance to the neighborhood. "I'll pick you up for work tomorrow morning."
"There's no need. I can walk on my own and take the subway."
"Okay, it's up to you."
He didn't insist.
