EPISODE TWO
The Divorce
Raymond and Ariana stood outside the airport in Australia waiting for their car, and it came almost immediately. The black vintage car packed in their front, and a man dressed in a uniform alighted from the car, he took their bags from them and put them in the booth.
Raymond and Ariana got into the car without saying a word to each other, but she couldn't stop looking up at him, she was confused of what was going.
Their marriage was just a day and he was acting all cold without a reason.
It was a silent drive home, Raymond got down and rushed into the house, Ariana followed him, she wanted to know what was going on in his head.
She got in to meet Raymond's lawyer, he had a briefcase in his hand, and some documents were on the table, "Mr. Raymond, I was just about to leave," he said to Raymond.
Raymond moved closer to his lawyer with a smile, he picked up the documents from the table and glanced through it, "Thank you," he said to him and shook his hand.
"I will leave now," his lawyer said and walked out of the house.
Raymond read through the documents again and turned to Ariana, "Here," he said and handed it over to her, "Sign this," he added.
Ariana took the papers from him and stared at him for minutes before reading through the documents, her hands shook as she murmured something to herself. She looked up at Raymond, and then back at the paper, she read through it again and she still couldn't believe her eyes, she looked up at him, "Divorce papers?," she asked with her eyes goggled
Raymond nodded, "Yes, sign them," he replied like it was nothing.
She smiled and moved closer to him, "This is one of your jokes right?," she asked with a faint smile, hoping Raymond would tell her that it was just a joke, "This is a prank right?," Ariana asked.
Raymond peered at her for minutes without saying a word, he knew what he was doing and what could be the result, but he felt like that was the only option, that was the only way he could get out of the problem he was in.
Raymond turned her back to Ariana, his throat tightened in unshed tears of sorrow and anger, he cleared his throat, "This isn't a prank Aria, just sign them and let's go our separate ways," he responded, his sorrow and confusion feeding his need.
She looked at the paper and read through it again, she wanted to be sure that she was seeing right, she wanted to be sure that she was holding a divorce paper in her hands.
While doing that, she muttered a silent prayer that she should turn out to be wrong, she prayed that she was wrong and the document wasn't a divorce paper.
Ariana gazed at it and tears rolled down her eyes.Magic shot through her, burning like fire. Ariana gasped, she fell to the floor and held on to the chair, her heart beat so hard against her chest, she held her hand to her chest and cried out, "This...this...this has got to be a joke," she muttered, looking at the papers again.
"Just sign them Ariana," Raymond's voice came again.
"No, no, no, this is a joke, this isn't true," she said and shook her head countless times, she picked up the papers and read again, her tears flowed down and dropped on the paper.
She held the papers to her chest and cried out, she couldn't believe that she will be getting a divorce the next day after wedding, she couldn't believe what was going on.
"Just sign them now Aria, you are wasting my time," Raymond said, still turning his back at her and making sure she wouldn't notice that he had also been crying.
His lips shook as he tried to hide his tears, he loved Ariana but he had to do what he was doing, it was for the best of both of them, "Just sign the papers," Raymond shouted and held on to his chest, his heart raced faster than it should be.
Ariana looked up at him and shook her head again, she spranged up from the floor and rushed to Raymond, she stood in his front and raised her hands up, "Why are you doing this to me?," she asked, letting out a whimper after every word, "What have I done wrong Ray, just tell me what I did wrong," she added and held his hand.
Raymond wiped his tears secretly and turned to her, he pulled her hands off him and looked into her eyes, "You've done nothing wrong Aria," he responded, his voice sounded okay to Ariana, and she could never imagine that he had also been crying, "I made the mistake, I was the one who did the wrong thing," he added and dipped his hands into his pocket, he brought out a pen, "Here, sign those papers now," he barked and placed the pen in her hand.
She threw the pen away and held him by the collar of his shirt, "Why am I getting punished then, you.. you said you were the one who did something wrong, then why am I getting punished," She shouted.
Raymond pulled her hands off his shirt and pushed her away, she fell to the floor and he found himself running to her, "Are you okay?," he asked, pulling her up.
Ariana looked up at him, the tears in her eyes came down like a wave. She held his hands and looked directly into his eyes, "Why do you want me out of your life if you still care about me?," she asked.
Raymond sighed, he pulled her hands off him and stood up, "Sign the papers and let me go," he said and turned his back to her again.
She stood up and knelt in his front, "Just tell me what I did wrong," she pleaded.
Raymond turned again, he couldn't look at her in the eyes, she wronged him in so many ways but he couldn't tell her, he couldn't tell her what was going on in his mind. Raymond loved her, and he was doing everything for them, he wouldn't be able to keep up with her after what he saw, "I was the one who did something wrong Ariana, and that is getting married to you," he shouted and rushed up the stairs.
Ariana stared at him as he walked into the room, it was like his words dried up the tears in her eyes, she couldn't cry again, she couldn't think of what she did wrong, her eyes were so dry, all she could do was murmur.
She stood up and ran after him, she stopped at the door and looked at him as he paced around in the room, the tears which couldn't come out before rolled out like a downpour, she could never imagine that Raymond would act so cold to her.
She had imagined a great life after marriage, all she could think of since she has got to know Raymond was their marriage, she never thought it would end after a day, maybe she was wrong, maybe she should have wished for a long lasting marriage and not just marriage.
She dragged her feet and moved closer to him, Ariana held his hands, "Do you still love me?," she asked and all he could do was stare at her.
